your right, money isnt everything. But if we pull up to a light togethor, (not to put to fine a point on it) and I smoke your a$$, atleast you can say it has a custom paint job.
Not trying to be a d@ck, but GM has been doing this for years. Look at the heritage camaro for the first example.
If you like it, I say go for it. But then I will ask "Why?"

the hawks are a differant breed. Do they have more power? No. But I think they are from a differant pedegree. The original hawk was bada$$. It was so bada$$ nobody could afford it. The new one, other than not having that silly split in the air intake, is probably the same as any other firebird. But it is still a FireHawk.
I like them very much, and I wish I could have been blessed with one (I just wished they didn't trim them in gold.
And yes, I know Bruce, you have one Nasty bird

props to Formula. My first bird was a 96 WS6 Formula.
I dont see why youre "arguin" or "debatin" about this. It's just like taking a stock WS6 and modding it. And I am definitely in love with my stock WS6. As about the pulling up at the light part, I fail to see how that has anything to do with the conversation. So the collectors edition cant be souped up now? Speed is one thing yes, but style is another. In urban traffic, speed doesnt factor in. The yellow bird can be built to race any other on a lone dark road also. I just cant find any angle on the view... E

okay, here we go.
Of course a 2002 "CE" can be modded. But your already $3K lighter in the wallet.
If your going for collector status, or for the "look". Then of course buy the CE. If you want performance. buy a 1le SS and go from there.
Not trying to bust the CE Firebirds balls, but me personally, I wouldn't buy it.

3k lighter yes. But i would gladly spend it for the quality look. Its not pep boys silver door trim, wal mart shiny paper hubcaps, or fuzzy dice. Its the "He said POOP".
Im an artist so im biased about it, and I had two of my cars painted yellow (its my favorite). Forgive me for jizzing myself over the look. Then there is the knowledge that you have 1 of only 2000. If you own an F-body, then you really cant hate on it. Its not like gas station price gouging. Same or less as if you took your '01 WS6 into the shop. To each his own.
(p.s. reds my second fav color. nice cars)

Well here is my take on the whole thing.... You pay for and get what you pay for.
The CE package is nothing more than decals and paint, but it is decals and paint that if you like the looks of you can pay money to have. Not everyone wants to buy a car and make it faster. Some people are happy with the performance the vehicle has from factory. These people are most likely buying the look so that they can be happy. I mean why should you have to mod your car?
If you buy anything other than a formula or Z28 I feel you are paying to much for the performance or looks gained. You can easily achieve the numbers and looks for cheaper through aftermarket companies. I mean my WS6 is only made up of a hood and swaybar now as I have replaced everything else........
If you like it buy it! If you don't like it don't buy it!

Hey if you buy it we could race sometime. FWIW you could almost get a stripped vette for what you will end up paying. If you like it order it. everybody has a opinion like drop $10,000 in your 97 and see what you got?

Stripped Vette would still leave you with only 2 seats, plus a look that I do not really like. Also it would be just that "Stripped"
