As you guys seem to be in Rovers lately i won´t hide the following pics...
A friend of me is rebuilding a good Rover P6 (early 70s) from two bad ones. I never thought this is possible, but one has a good engine, great interiour and exteriour and one hole in the frame (front to back ) but the other has a good frame...
BTW: The engines are 3500 V8s, initially built by Buick, ... No, not 350 cui, it´s the 3,5 litre...
I give him a hand from time to time. (I´m so proud of me) And as this is a low budget thingy we don´t even have a fu**ed crane for the engine...
I´m the one who´s not glowing in the dark
The good Rover:
The bad Rover:
We want the car running that year... Your bet ?
BTW2: It´s called Mortimer

And I thought Rovers were just cars. I mean SUV's.

Rover make a good car? Nah!
I seem to recall the Press at the time describing the P6 as "the only 4 door 2 seater in the world". They were quick for their time though. I always preferred the XJ6.

@Garry: No, that´s the engine that´s broken... It was hard to loosen the screws on the plate that´s attached to the <english word for "Wandler" - part of the auto-tranny>, because the whole part was stuck... The good engine started right away. Here it is:
@ssz28: Yupp, but that doesn´t really made it "lightweight"... Ouch...
@LuS1fer: I would have looked for a 1971 Buick Riviera for sure, but my friend is into those british cars...
BTW: The cars have a very strange suspension, because they were designed for a gas turbine initially... DeDion, jaguar-like (breakdisks in the middle) axle in back, and horizontal springs up front... That´s the reason for the small trunk and the wheel up there...

The "wheel up there" only featured on the 3500S and was probably to do with the width of the tyres as well as the size of the boot.

I've got the original specs and performance figures at home and also have an original brochure in my collection which covers the early 70's.
