Darth Vader Style 8)

I´m making progress on that car, 8 months ago i swapped engines, now i finally rewired everything, I just have to finish the water hoses and exhaust and i´ll see if the engine runs or got damaged in the crash...

It was a big feeling of success as the gauges, lights, windows, turning signals etc suddenly worked

You need to evacuate everyone within a 100 km radius. You need to be quarantined until they figure out what is going on with you. I think it has to do with you living across the street from that Nuke facility!

I took us quite long to find a place like this, even though we are just roomer and share the space with the main renter (ok, we take more space than him, but thats OK ) - i think you have just the chance to get something like that in the country.
The working atmosphere is very nice, everybody is helping each other out, sharing knowledge etc, pretty cool.

Marc (he was in Bitburg, too) is also restoring his 69 Käfer of the frame there, you can see pics at http://www.hubraum-statt-spoiler.com/gallery/index.php (just in case you ever decide to restore you´re Käfer ;) Seems like lots of work! )
The main renter is also restoring an "Iso Lele Sport" (the silver one on the pics), I never heard of that car company before, very rare and powered by american muscle :)

Ask him if he has a 1600, or knows where to get one cheap! ;)

I´m sooooo happy.

Today that "black POS" (how i lovingly call it) you see on the picture in the background started up the first time!
I swapped engines already 8month ago, it had a block with spun bearings and i put the engine out of my wrecked car in it, but till now i had no time to finish it (was busy cleaning intakes with brushes...).

We tried for 20min to start it (just using an external battery and jumper cables), then after we found out that the cables we´re nearly hot and glowing (not kidding!), we put the battery IN the car, connected it and the Quad4 started after 2 cranks. :D :D

Looks like it didn´t get damaged in the crash, just the header gasket is leaking, i guess the header hit the firewall, i´ll just put the other header and a new gasket on and hopefully that´s it.

Perhaps the farmer who lives directly besides our workshop was not so happy to hear a car with no muffler at 2200, but damn, i simply had to do it...

Congrats Chris. I know how it feels to have something work after waiting so long. I hope she runs good for you! ;)
