Yesterday was "He said POOP"...it was dry but it was insanely packed. Damn motorcyclists were going down left and right...coupled with the fact that all the parking areas were giant mud pits and all of that crap was being drug onto the track. Couple that with all the cars sliding off and dragging the mud from the grass onto the road...

Rode around in my buddy's brand new SLK55 AMG and he went off at the last chicane before Hocheichen. This was his first time on the track...he kept trying to drive it fast and I was trying to keep him slower...that was sobering for him and he did slow it down.

I just ordered my new suspension and all the necessary parts to install val's old cam...so I'm excited to see how all of these changes will affect the car.

Those pictures came out really good. You should see the video of my last lap. 11:20 was my time. I edited it and everything. I just have to figure out a way to get it on the web. I'll figure it out eventually.

Don't say that time too loud . There is a a 90 hp white van that eats cars that go slower than 10:10 for a lap.

Well it was his first time up there and had stock braking setup. I've been up around 8 or 9 times now...and I really wouldn't recommend anyone begin to start pushing it till they've got 10 laps under their belt. Another thing to remember is that you gotta pay to play...each lap will begin taking it's toll on your car. I just spent $3,000 last week for replacement / upgrade parts. Hell, my wilwood rotors (that I've already smoked) are $180ea!

Take your time learning the track...going slow...enjoy the ride. No need to get hit up by the track for an $80,000 bill for going into one of the walls and causing damage to the track and track downtime.

I was told that most of the bad wrecks are from people with 15-50 laps under the belt because they think they know the track and start to push it a little then get suprised.

...and people give me crap because I use $25 rotors

I don't understand your guys drama with brakes. I go through one pair of rotors a season on the front and thats it. Might I suggest Brake management , warmup and cooldown procedures or at least review what your doing.

Saturday was the 1st day on the Ring where I used my high beams and the horn to notify a biker that I was behind him. He just kept driving all over the place in the corners and I couldn't pass him on the straights.

But nice day apart from that. Brakes... actually I've never had problems at N'ring even before I installed the cooling ducts. Hockenheim is what's killing my brakes.

Hell I don't know...maybe it's all my High Speed runs north of Dusseldorf on the A31 that do it for me...but I definately drive too aggressively on the roads. I'm working on self control for me. Additionally I'm driving 40 miles to and from work everyday...GTO now has 35,000 miles. The wilwood rotors have the slots completely erased from them.

I'm wondering if the suspension with all it's nose diving will reduce brake wear with the new kit.

The bikers were atrocious weren't they? They were closed so much it was pathetic...that second lap I took we just kept seeing bike after bike down in the dirt...I think it was 6 total.

I believe a less agressive Brake compound will reduce rotor wear when cold.

No drama, I just need several sets of rotors and 2 sets of pads to get through a full summer. Never had any problem with fading or anything else and with these new calipers, I think 1 set of front pads will last all year and then some, so I'll just need a few sets of rotors and at $25 I'm not complaining at all.

now i just need those dang spacers to hurry up and get here so everything will actually fit
