That sucks ... :( Sorry to hear ... glad you weren't injured much ... Hope you don't end up being declared partly at fault for driving too fast ...

Well, guess with all the bad luck you've had with the car it had to end up like that earlier or later :(

And if those f_cking Sprinters and light trucks finally would be treated as trucks and not as cars (unlimited speed, no ban on passing...), they wouldn't even dare to pull in the left lane...

Wrong, if their DRIVERS would just have some common sense ...
Well, at least the driver noticed and stopped, not like the guy with the GTO ...

I keep sitting here thinking about it and I miss it all ready depending on what happens with the insurance company. I would like to get and SS. I feel bad there is one less WS6, but I am glad I am ok and nobody got injured. That's what matters the most.

Is that 35th still for sale?
As for insurance, unless they get you for driving well over the "advised" speed (I take it there was no speed limit there?) of 130kmh, the woman's liability should cover the damage to the car as well as some minor amount of "Schmerzensgeld" for your injuries ... make sure you get yourself a lawyer (does the Army supply legal support to active duty members? Is it worth it?) to take care of your claims ...

There was no speed limit where it happened. I'm not sure if it is or not if it is I will look at getting that. Pick myself up and start again.

That sucks to see. Glad you are OK. I found that I have new pains after the wreck has faded away.

I can tell you that the AF does not offer offbase legal council, but will give a LITTLE advice.

In your case it sounds like the other person is being blamed. That is good, but apparently Germany automatically assumes 50% liability until you are proven otherwise.

I suggest getting a savastandiger (sp). It is a private appraisal of your vehicle. Unfortunately, it can cost around 700 euros. If you have USAA try to prevent taking any money from them because they value your cars worth in the US. Here it is worth nearly double the amount. In my case, they were going to give me $2600 and my savastandiger valued it at 8500 EUROS! Unfortunately, the person that cut me off had a witness that said I was in the wrong. Therefore, I was found at fault and had to take what USAA was giving me.

Sorry to ramble, but this brings back many memories. I am glad to hear you are OK. If you have any questions you can PM me.

Sachverständiger ;) But very good advise!

I'm also getting my car valued by a Sachverständiger in the next weeks, so it's insured for the right value and i get all my money, just in case something like that happens.
Just make sure the Sachverständige / the expertise is approved by the insurance company.

Sachverständiger

I tried :D

USAA would not accept any Sachverständigers. Trust me I tried. That was almost a $8,500 diff.

Maybe Roy could use the 2000 PCM to do a swap sometime this winter ... !? Finally get a chance of upgrading to a CustomOS ... :)

Did you at least swap some paint with the Sprinter? If not, then I foresee a lot of stress in the courts trying to get full payment.

What would probably help if the Gutachter could testify that you couldn't have avoided wrecking the car even if you had only gone 85mph or so ... hope you didn't say anything wrong to the police ...
