I just picked this up I ordered this back in May, the Firebird will be going in storage this winter. I'm still breaking it in but I think it'll be a fun car to drive.

Dang man that's sweet! Get some winter wheels for it though as the salt is a mofo hear.

I am going to get some all season tires, but I don't remember the Germans using salt. Don't they put urea, or someting like that, on the roads? Hopefully no salt.

Nice!
Yep! It's salt, so plan on getting the undercarriage washed regularly!

Hm ... can you bring it to BIT in October? Would like to give it a try on the Quarter (and the slalom!)

Hey, a sports car is a great winter car! I just need some weight in the trunk and a good set of tires
I'll try to make it in October, but I'll have to wait and see what my schedule is like. I would like to try it on the slalom.
I guess I'll have to spray the underside when it starts getting icy. At least I don't have to worry about the Firebird.

Looks good in person guys, haven't gotten to look at it up close but I will. He will dominate on the Slalom if he goes to bit, and thats the king of the hill month, he might even give some of the Opels a run for thier money on the course, would be interesting to see.

Please let me know how you like this car as it is very high up on my list of my next cars that I'm considering to purchase. The biggest turnoff is the weightgain between the Z4 and the Z4M. How does a car gain 200lbs like that?
I'm thinking that if BMW drops the Twin Turbo motor from the 335Ci in the base Z4, the Z4M won't be worth it.

Overall, it's not a bad car. It handles well and the acceleration isn't too bad. The body style is one of the best aspects, I think. I'm guessing the weight gain is from the engine and bigger brakes. But for the money, I think I prefer the Corvette. Here are a few comparisons:
The Z4 is harder to get out of, it has a side rail like the C4 Vette.
The Vette has more storage space, I can barely fit a mid size roller bag into the Z4.
The Vette gets better fuel mileage and it has more power.
The Z4 does have a littler nicer interior, but the '08 C6 is supposed to have some improvements now.
I haven't heard anything about a new motor being dropped in and I don't think it's likely. I think the current Z4 will be replaced soon with a new version.
It's all a matter of opinion though. I'll try to go to Bit this month but I'm going to be gone a lot. Which weekend is it?
