And what I just seen: That car has a 3spd Automatic in there! Boy, how fast could he be with a decent manual ...

I believe I have some old mag articles on it. There are a couple 30th anniversaries running scary hp. Probably be one of them that is first in the 8's. (I know there are LT1s in the 7's and below, but they arent street cars). ***obvious jab to the ribs*** <- didnt the LS1 just get into the 9's last month?? J/K guys!! come on!! BTW, if he put a manual in the car he would probably slow down.

Quote: BTW, if he put a manual in the car he would probably slow down. I'm more into electronics and computers, so please excuse my ignorance ... but with only a 3-speed, it would seem to me that he has to lose quite a bit of power in certain RPM areas ... I could imagine that a 4-speed would help, but having a 5 or 6 speed should keep the car in the maximum HP area better ... !? Of course it would then be up to the driver to change gears near to perfect to get decent times, but with a certain degree of perfection, it should help the time and speed ... !?

A manual will hold an edge up to the 10's. Because of less parasitic loss and more gears means the driver can keep the car in the power band longer. If you have a 700+ mill up front, your going to get down the track alot faster with a good stall and a auto than with kevlar clutch and a itchy shifting hand.
I wont even get into the differance in speed between an auto shifting gears, and you or I shifting them.
I dont claim to know all the nifty scientific reasons, but if you look at most every 10 and below car, it will have a an auto shifting it
