Hello!
I am desperately looking for a source of cutouts (preferably electrical ones) in the area of Munich/Bavaria.
Any input would be more than welcome!
The stock exhaust on a EUROPEAN 2000 Z28 is 3â€

http://www.quicktimeperformance.com sells electrical cutouts. It's not in the Munich area though.
Why not buy a top quality cat-back exhaust like a nice BORLA system which is also adjustable in sound...?
Ben

Because the car is still underwarranty for another 15 month ... And I guess it would be easier to argue a short length of welded pipe (After having removed the cutout, in case of any warranty needs), than to argue over a whole exhaust system.
Besides, those ugly red numbers they are using for my account statements limit me to the cheap and dirty for a while :)

Hi Alex!
Thank you very much for the information!
German plates, yes ... but I only want the cutout for the occasional ricer-scaring, or to wake up the old lady driving far too aslow in front of me :(
So, always hoping for the best, I guess that I’ll survive another few times of playing hide and seek with these strange people in green ...
BTW, those considerations are the reason why I am looking for an ELECTRICAL cutout ... I guess jumping out of the car and screwing on a plate underneath would not impress the police TOO much :)
Thanks again!!
Hans :)

I know exactly what you mean .. Always fun playing hide and seek with the green ones… gotta love that adrenalin rush
Your right, an electronical cutout is much better for these purposes, thats why I want to get one of these McCord plates for my cutout
Its just a PITA screwing on the plate with the hot exhaust next to it
Alex

I remember my cutout.. The sound was so awesome, the first time I cranked her up.. It sounded like a totally different car, and for only $35 + welding..

Hans:
As I see in your sig you now have the QTEC/QTP electric cutout, right? Are you satisfied with it? Does it close tight or does it leak? Any problems with the installation?
Ben

It does leak a TINY bit, and I mean tiny.
The installation was a breeze.
There is a spot right under the passenger seat, that fits perfectly. AND there is a rubber seal to the passenger compartment right next to it, that I used for the cable.
The whole operation took about 45 minutes.
I am VERY satisfied with it! Open to close in about 4 secs, great sound open, and stock quiet closed.
I have lost a little torque in the low RPM's, but the free flow should make up for that in the higher regions.
Full throttle it sounds awesome, and closing it already saved my a** twice, because police suddenly appered before me ;)

Nice.
Do you close it on longer autobahn trips? I was driving around last year with my half-open Borla and it really got on my nerves on longer trips although it was fun to get attention e.g. in a traffic jam.
I've closed it a couple of months ago and now the sound is very refined, deeper than before and you can use 4th and 5th gear (not only 6th like before) AND listen to your stereo system.

On the Autobahn it is closed most of the time (Except, if I want to pass some really stubborn guy *G*)
Even the tiny leak is not annoying at all ... It gives a very, very subtle undertone ...
This being able to modify the sound by the flick of a switch is truly the icing on my (exhaust) cake :)

Be careful! I had mine installed there, and it started to get really hot, and burned a hole in the carpet, and started burning the seat, but I smelled it before it got too serious...

Thanks for the warning!
I will keep an eye (nostril?) on that spot for a while ...
