I've got a question for those who know a bit about differentials in our cars:
Let's say I'm parking with the 2 passenger-side wheels in the mud or on a slippery surface, and with the other 2 wheels on dry asphalt. How come I'm spinning the right/passenger rear tire and cannot get the car to move a bit although I've got a locking-type (stock) diff in my car?

Ben You have either exceeded the maximum torque that the Limited slip can transfer to the non slipping wheel or the clutches are totally shot.
If its a Torsen it needs some traction to transfer torque to the non slippping , non spinning wheel. If you have traction control , the lowspeed setting will actuate the rear brakes to stop the slipping wheel from spinning , which will transfer torque to non spinning wheel. But if your already stuck its not gonna help.

Thanks for the explanation, Roy. Yes I have a Torsen without clutches.
