Maybe a stupid question, but can A/N fittings be used to connect rubber hoses or only for steel lines?

They are normally used on braided lines, but can be used on some rubber hoses. Don't know why you would want to though. There are problems mating AN fittings to normal fittings and the rubber hoses normally used with AN fittings are usually special purpose and not cheap at all.
