I don't have my car yet, but I'm trying to get ready for it. There was another thread about tint and exhaust changes and that has made me a little concerned about things.

I know Germans have strict rules about making changes, but isn't window tint legal as long as it isn't too dark? (like US requirements: 35% up front).

As for exhaust noise, someone mentioned putting steel wool in the pipes to muffle the sound. Whats a good technique to get the stuff out when it's over? Attach a string to it? They don't look inside the pipes?

Thanks.

As the rules stand, any tint of any shade on the front windshield and the front doors is a no no.
As to get the steel wool out just stand on the throttle , I haven't had a problem getting the steel wool out , just keeping the steel wool in .

Edited for for clarity and the sick bastages that would have a hayday on this

I saw the article in the latest KA. I just spent almost $300 getting my windows re-tinted in Feb and now I have to remove the front window tint. I searched for info on-line and I never saw anything about changing inspection requirements. I doubt my Hooker muffler will be quiet enough too, so more money to spend...

How do they do the db test? At idle or driving by?

Your hooker exhaust should pass. Challenge the test if you know it's not being conducted properly and have the regulation printed and ask to speak to the Boss. Shouldn't come to that but ya never know...and the steel wool trick works.

Thanks. The car is pretty quiet at idle, but when I stand on the throttle it does get pretty loud (long tubes, dual cats & 3in pipes). The way I read the test, they have to do a quick acceleration; this is the part that could be an issue.

I'll try the steel wool, but I found a silencer on-line that you can install in the pipe. This one screws in, so I won't have to worry about the wool falling out. I have some time to figure it out though.
