I will buy a K&N fipk air intake system. I have a 1998 Camaro 3.8 V6.
The application list on K&N homepage says that this filter is only available for 1999 and up Camaros.

In my opinion the 98 and 99 have the same stock air system (housing and filter) Why this kit will not fit?

Any difference between this two years from the engine?

From 1995 to 1998 the L36 engine had a angled down throttle body, after that they switched over to an straight throttle body, so i guess the pipe connecting the airbox to the throttle body is curved differently.

The first one is a 1998, the second one a 1999
(just ignore that crappy intake on the first picture ;) )

I think a conversion doesn't make sense as you would have to change the entire upper intake manifold, lots of money for nothing.

Simply get a whisper lid for a 1998 model...

...and probably a SLP Cold Air Induction Package.

Sounds and works nice (no silencers, completely smooth lid!), picks up cold air, looks like stock and doesn't scream "Modified!!!" like the K&N kit does, so you can easily pass TÃœV with it ( tried that already ;) ).
