This is simular to Garrys "Tires" thread and 98 Raptors recent accident but broader....

This is pretty much F-Bodies, 4th Gen only ..... any input otherwise is appritiated but I need to know about my car and thoughs with them to get specifics ....

I'm running Kumho ESCTA 712's 17x240 *if memory serves...been a year since I've seen the car*

Now the question is

WHATCH YA RUNNING?

I'm would like to hear goods and bads of your tires if you got the time....
the Kumho's worked great in England with a constant dampness and rough/loose assphalt ranging to the M-1, being, I guess simular to the Autobahn.....

With a new/first born on the way I'm finding myself thinking even harder about safety stuff like this and want my boy to be safe......when your single you chalk it up to "I can handle myself" but its different now.....

Toyo RA1 tires. Ultimate dry weather Grip right down to no tread. Great rain tire for wet pavement . Downside is the tires are short lived.

I've still got the OE Goodyear Eagles and am very satisfied with them. 31K miles and they still look good.

my tire history (02 Corvette Coupe)

-Goodyear Eagle F1 GS EMT (front-245/45-17: rear-275/40-18 ) - stock runflat tires sucked ass
-Yokohama AVS Sport Runflats (front-245/45-17: rear-275/40-18 )- much better runflat tire, got greasy when pushed hard. Good tire if you've got to have runcraps.
-Kumho Ectsa MX (front-275/35-18: rear-285/35-18 ) - Excelent tire for the money, performance just shy of the best street tires on the market at a fraction of the price. My street tire of choice and currently on the car
-Kumho Ectsa ASX (front-245/45-17: rear-275/40-18 ) - Thought it would be a good,cheap all-season tire good enough for daily driving duties, but performance was as bad if not worse than the Goodyear runcraps. At least they only cost hald as much
-Kumho Ectsa v710 (front-275/40-17: rear-315/35-17) - Dry weather/Track only, technically DOT legal, but are designed for AutoX/RR competition. They only have 2 groves that are 4/32" deep and a 30 treadwear rating. I was able to geet 2 good weekends and 1 marginal weekend out of a set of scrubs at Bitburg. Ask Roy or any of the AutoX guys how good they are
-Hoosier A6 (front-295/35-17: rear-315/35-17)- TBD, won plenty of SCCA national titles in 2006. Sitting in the garage until I burn up my last set of 710s

Well lets see on my 98 to start with I have falken fiex they were ok then I got BFG Comp t/a drag radials and they were awsome on the track and when it was dry but when it got wet that was another story I did my best to not drive it when it was wet. It currentley has kumho's on the rear it is like ice skateing trying to get traction but that car is not stock.

And then the WS6 had sumotumo that were bald and well you see where that got me.

Goodyear Eagle GSC: Bad traction in the dry as well as in the wet.

BFGoodrich KDW: Good traction in the dry and in the wet. Last pretty long.

The BFG G-Force Sport tires I got new for the back seem pretty decent, too ... not too noisy, and both the dry and wet handling seem pretty good ...

Nitto NT-01 good wet when there is tread on them. Dry when there is no tread they stick very well. 1 set 100 miles till corded.

Falken RT-615 Good wet when there is tread horrible in snow. Dry when below 3/32 are very grippy but not as much as the Nitto's. 150-200 miles from a set till corded.

James, I'm impressed how many miles you are getting out of tires...

the ramp at bitburg isn't exactly kind to tires

Yeah that stuff is pretty darn ruff on soft tires.

Pirreli P-Zero Nero M+S: pretty good all season tire but not great grip for high performance cars.

BFG KD: Great dry tire but I never took it out in the rain, the reviews aren't good in the rain so I'm not using them here.

Goodyear GSD3: probably the best wet/dry high performance street tire on the market. Not cheap but not the most expensive either. I'll probably go back to these before I leave here.

Currently have BFG KDW-NT: hate them. the grip is OK but they are the loudest tires I've ever heard; I don't recommend these.

I'm currently running on Firestone Indy 500's , but because I am out of town on business for three months or so, I can not exactly remember.

I got them because I had to find a very functional and realistic compromise ... and I will not be on a racetrack or drag strip and I will not normally see any speeds over 130 MPH in the states.... so no need for me to currently get a Z rated tire ... but a daily tire that can also see an endless amount of mileage, and great handling in all weather conditions, and be excellent in rain and snow.
