 Post subject: Crank snout or crank blower pulley?

What is your guys take on this? Initial start (I have vid but the file is too big) I didn't have this problem but now I do. The crank pulley and spacer is wobbling and the spacer is clearly off center. Everything was secured w/ lock tite and nothing has backed out. Car running I run the back of my hand on the crank pulley and it's east west motion. Belt is aligned perfectly and doesn't jump off the pulleys and there is no belt dust of any kind or abrassions, tears, etc. on the belt. Going to pull the belt tonight and run it again but others thing possibly the hub bolt has backed out BUT the hub doesn't appear to wobble and you can see that in the vid here. Opinions?

I would pull the crank pulley and spacer first for inspection and then the harmonic balancer for inspection, before running it any more.

Found the problem. :bang:

The 3 holes I tapped one hole doesn't have the same spacing difference as the other 2 so in theory I'd suppose 2 are off ever so slightly causing the wobble effect on the crank pulley. Now my question is WILL this damage the crank if I elect to put it back on? So what do I do? Buy another ATI hub or try and take it to a machine shop and have the holes tapped even larger and properly spaced? I guess I kinda know the answer to this.

It's a confined space so it's hard to tell but the hole up top is the one that's not spaced correctly. The top hole is the 2nd pic.

So are the holes tapped for you blower pulley? I would see about tapping them larger if that is the case. How can you ensure the accuarcy though?

Chris I've had bad luck for years. LOL! Nothing new to me and I'm persistant and stubborn.

Brian all I had to do was attach 2 bolts and those 2 lined up perfectly. Crank the car and the wobble was gone.

I figured it out. Talk about forcing the situation. It explains why I had a hard time installing the spacer and crank pulley. Gonna have to slot the spacer. I rotated the spacer 3 times to see if was the spacer itself. It is. There is no way it'll go on w/ the way it is designed well at least mine. Clearly needs slotting and the crank pulley comes slotted so why not the spacer?

Time to go to Badder and get raped 50 euro for them to slot/machine it. I am not trusting myself to drill a larger whole in the spacer...it's thick!
I rather blow 50 euro vs 15K.

Gary if I can lean out my VE table @ idle I'll be there.

It'll incinerate in N/A form. Ran it for a few last night working some small bugs out of it and I can tell just in n/a application this sucker is strong! Throttle response is amazing and it almost seems more responsive in n/a form then blown. I kept tripping the low trac light when I'd snap the throttle to 3K rpm. I feel a slight vibration up there too but I think it's timing related--I'll know more later this wk for sure. Could be the flywheel too. I'm going to try and put it on the road this wkend and see what happens because if all goes well I'll be getting an alignment and getting the blasted exhaust tip welded.

Brian any word on the Z?
