 Post subject: Wide Band O2

This is a dumb question, but is there a way to visually tell the difference between a standard and wide band O2?

I think my new car may have one and I am trying to figure out if it is. I cannot tell the difference from the standard O2's

does it have any markings?
most WBO2 will have an external controller in order to be able to hook them up to a motor expecting a NBO2 ...

There is only 1 in the driver side of the Y-pipe. It is not connected. That is what caught my attention. As far as I could tell, there were no markings on it. It looked just like the other 2.

Hm ... WB BEHIND cats doesn't make sense ...
Anyway, w/o controller and w/o being connected, it won't do much good ;)

a wideband allways has 5 wires ..

you MUST hook the wideband up to a (wideband) controller if your engine is running otherwise the sensor goes bad very fast

IIRC, the LC1 Bosch Sensor only has 4 ... but the WB Controller has quite a few more than 5 ... ;)
