I came upon this problem today with someone I was helping. What would cause 1 pad on a disk brake to wear EXTREMELY quickly? It was the outside pad away from the piston.

Well if its a floating caliper my money would be on sticky caliper guide pins.

That was my initial thought, but wouldn't that cause both pads to wear?

Just look at the construction of the caliper and you will see.
Heck take it apart and clean the guide pins and regrease with hi temp anti seize

Brain its your pads giude rails * were the ends of the pad sit in the calpier houseing*....we just went over this in clas tonight. If the piston stuck then both pads would be FUBAR but if one sticks its not slideing back after the compression is off..mines doing simular crap right now.
