I'm have a problem the steering on a Town and Country minivan. When you first start it up, the power steering works fine to the right, but doesn't seem to work to the left. The steering wheel is very hard to turn, but you can turn it. After about 5 minutes, it is fine and steers the same in both directions. The fluid level is fine and it is not leaking anywhere. The belt is tight. Any suggestions???

sounds like a sticky assist valve in the rack. When was the last time the pwoer steering rack and system drained and flushed?

That's funny, the exact same thing was happening to the Firebird. It started when the weather got cold.

Not hard to do . Jus pull the linesgoing from the stering to the pump and let it drain , then slowly turn the wheel lock to lock to remove the fluid.
reconnect the lines fill the pump with engine off turn it lock to lock to refill the rack. check fluid level , fill as necessary , then start engine and turn lock to lock to remove the last bit of air.

Johnny unless something changed, your car has a recirculating ball type steering box. You can do the same thing also .

I'll check into it. It's a remanufactured IROC box with less than 15K miles since the install. Damn thing better not be messed up already.
