Well, I got back a week ago and I planned on taking the Firebird to Italy, via the Stelvio Pass. I made it to the Austrian border on Sunday and then my fuel pump quit working. It took several hours, but I eventually got the car towed back by ADAC. I still wanted a vacation, so I took the Z4 the next day. I did make the pass, but I'll post about that later. I have a new pump and I tried to install it today, but I've had some issues. I bought a gas siphon, but it doesn't work, so my tank is 3/4 full. I moved on to the exhaust and I can't get the back part off. My only option is a joint before it goes over the axle, but I can't get it to seperate So I'm stuck, I think the outer pipe will have to be heated up to make it expand some. I'm frustrated because I wanted to drive it some more before the winter hits, and now I'll probably have to find a shop next week. Any ideas/help?

Let me check and see, but I believe I have a wide exhaust clamp for a butt connection. If I do, you could just cut your exhaust wherever you need ot and then use the clamp to reconnect it. I would get it welded eventually, but it would be a good fix for awhile.
Another option is to research if you can do the trap door method. Then you would not have to drop the tank. I just don't know if you can do that on a 3rd gen.
Let me know if you wanna give that clamp a try.

fuel tank is a PITA ... when I dropped mine, we had some problems with the exhaust, but as I was replacing the front part anyways with the new longtubes and stuff, we just cut it in pieces Still the last part (which I still needed) took some work to get wedged out ... good luck with it!

Let me know if you wanna give that clamp a try. Thanks, I may try the clamp. It needs to fit a 3 inch pipe though. I've seen the trap door on 3rd gens, but I think I'd rather have the tank out before cutting. I may try this, since it seems Walbro quality may have gone down since they were bought out. Also, anyone have a gas siphon that works?

All I have is a Mightyvac. It would work, but would take forever!
The clamp is a 3"....if I have it left. I am at work now and cannot check.
