BTW, when is the serpentine belt supposed to be changed? How long should it last without problems?

Well, mine has probably has somewhere around 45kkm and 6 years on it now (don't think it was replaced before), and the guy at the Opel place in Bitburg pointed out some minor cracks on it ... just want to make sure I replace it before it goes south ...
