Alright GM guys here's one for you. Roy knows Brian from bitburg so he knows he exists. Roy Brian's Sonoma with the 4 banger gave up the tranny again. So here's what I am trying to find out... Brian is working on a single income and doesn't have a lot of cash. He has two 4L60E's that are apparently toast.(The second one to go in)One we know the valve body was shifted from an apparent wreck it came out of.(Original tranny) The first one the pan vibrated loose on him and spilled all the fluid on the highway and well since he didn't want to do the legwork in the first place and change the filter and fluid it went into the garage.. So when the second tranny gave out we put the original back in with fresh fluid and filter and a new servo I think the vette one. I didn't ask just helped install it. So today he says it tries to shift into second and seems like it is going into a gear that does not exist.
Anyone know what other transmissions will drop irght in and work for him with no computer problems or anything else? This is his only transportation Any help is appreciated.

GOt too many wires to deal with for doing a swap to any thing else. Plus that module that slides over the lever linkage on the transmission , well it won't retro fit to anything else.
A complete master rebuild kit plus both trannys would be the cheapest route. The transmission is not too difficult too rebuild . A rebuilt Goodwrench goes any where between 1500-1800 dollars plus a core charge of 250 dollars. Shipping to Frankfurt through bax is 250 Dollars.
I went this route on a Chevy Suburban for a colleague.

Anyone got the special tools for the rebuild? I don't mind heling him rebuild it, the one is probably gone beyond normal repair since the valve body was shifted on it.
The second, or stock original with the corvette servo with the extended piston on it should be rebuildable.
The special tools needed to get it apart and back together would be the hard part.
What the tranny is doing. It will drive in first, at the end of first gear it feels like it is slamming into reverse. Anyone know , is this second gear giving out ?
