After 185.000km (115.000miles) my steering shows serious signs of wear... It also starts to make very nasty noises (*klonk blooong klonk*) when i turn from full left to full right or vice versa.

So i think i really need a new steering rack.
Any good sources?
Anyone got a spare one?

I had a look at that manual steering rack from thunderracing,
looks good, but $675 is a heavy price tag (for a downgrade. ;) )

Sure it's that and not something else? My steering on the MR was making noises, but it was the "Domlager" ...

No, i´m pretty sure it´s the steering rack.
I had it on the lift, tires off, no load on the suspension, and when you turn the steering wheel you can feel the play and it seems like the gears/rack/whatever make that loud noise, especially when you change the steering direction fast, "shake" the steering wheel, or go to the outer left/right position.

The "Domlager" is on top of the shocks?

Yes, it's where the steering turns on/in ... (the STB goes on top of it ...) maybe "Strut tower bearings" or something similar in englisch? Whatever :)
