Go for the ARP Rod bolts. They are cheaper and just as strong.

Roy,

i did al lot of reseacrh on the ls1tech board and found several people had engine (rod) failure after they installed the arp's
and found NONE failures for the Katech's
ARP clearly states that the rods need to be resized for the bolts, and for the KAtechs that is not nessesary according to theselves.

it could be that arp is just saying that to cover their buts and the bolts are the same, but i'm not sure i want to take the risk

the original bolts allso seem to allow some people to do 6500rpm +
but thats a risk i'm allso not willing to take.

now if somehow i could see both these bolts and measure them next to eachother, maybe then i would take the arps if they are the same

apparently the arp's are somewhat longer and would need a rebalance ?

JeeJee
I have seen both . I am not seeing a difference in them. I am running the ARP bolts myself. And have had no problems yet. Of course I don't rev my motor that high or spray wild stuff in it or have radical cam either.
I know Katech doesn't make their rod bolts. And the literature I got from ARP said nothing about resizing the rods . Besides you can't resize the LS1/LS6 because it is a cracked cap design.

i dont like paying for something i dont need (especially me)
so i looked at the arps

the resize ing was not so much for the bearing hole (as this is indeed not possible with cracked rods) but the rodbolt hole.
as it is an "interference fit" rodbolt from what i understand
apparently the Katechs are a exact replica of the original and the arp's are not (arp's propably better design though and stronger)

one advatage for the arp's is that there is a dealer here in holland and for the katech only in the states :?

i'll give it some more though.
