Post subject:  WANTED - Optima Red/Yellow top Battery

Hey - I know I just missed out on one Optima that was for sale on here, but now I really need one! I just got all my parts in (to include a big '01 LS1 w/T56) and need a battery once I get everything together!

Or, does anyone know of a good battery to use for cranking the LS1? Also, I'm really leaning towards the Optima batteries due to the fact that they are gel, and not liquid filled - the battery will be mounted in the car (trunk area).

Thanks!

Doesn't your AAFES capr parts store sell Optimas . If not just get the batt for the vette or the Camaro. Should be about 60 dollars for it I believe.
Also just an FYI THe Optimas are not gel batteries , the are a starved electroyte design.

I'm working with my local AAFES here in Stuttgart on Patch - Not sure what will happen there. I do know that they have one on the shelf at Vogelweh in K-Town, however, I'm not up for a 4 hour drive (round trip).

If anyone is going up to K-town from the Stuttgart area, or coming down here, I'd be happy to help pay for gas - to pick up the battery.

Roger on the not gel batteries part - I do know that they are better for mounting inside the car, which is what I'm looking for-

It is usually pretty quick. I have actually gotten stuff 2 days after I ordered it! However, I have also had to deal with an order that got lost in the mail.

I would figure it to be about 2 weeks to be safe.

I know, I'm lazy. I don't want to drive from Stuttgart!

For anyone in the Stuttgart area, there are 3 POSSIBLE Red tops coming in to the car care center on Panzer either this Monday or next... myself and someone else already have dibs on two, so if anyone needs one, be sure to show up first thing Monday and get your name on the list!

Ok, for anyone else out there looking to get a new battery - AUTOZONE ships to APO for FREE!

I just ordered myself a Red Top with free shipping. They also do everything else for free shipping too (I'm assuming).
