Hallo friends,

does anyone have parts of a headlamp beam height control.

I need this parts for a US Trans Am 98 Cabrio.

Till 97 there should have been a headlamp beam height control in the european verion.

Why I need it? I try to get the TÃœV for a newly importet car. The Austrian authority askes for it !!!!

Thanx in advance
Günter

I know that I don't have one, but I will try to find you a part number when I get home from work tonight. Will that help?

Whoa, that'll be hard an expensive to get ... no telling how much work it'll be to retrofit ... I know I had it on my 98 Camaro ...

now I'm a bit more clever ...
the european firebird was imported WITHOUT a headlamp beam height control.

It was modified in Europe before sale.

I was told, that therefore are no part numbers available.

I saw pictures of a 97 firebird, but my headlamps are different and therefore I have to produce the parts of my own.

My first attempt will be to build a control module for the headlamps of my own. I have to add an angle sensor in order to make a server out of the simple motor. It will be a cheap solution but very time consuming to develop and build.

Never the less I´d prefer an expensive bolt on solution to buy (I'll want to drive my car THIS summer!)

The easiest way would be a servo with a bowden control cable - does anybody know such a part? The same parts must exist for automatic speed control.

Thanx for any information,
Günter

I succeeded.

I baught used parts of a Pontiac 1995. This one had a bowden cable.

I produced the mechanical parts at the H4 lamp on my own and now it works.

Of course I'll only use it once - to get my papers ;-)

Good bye Guenter

Cool!

Ain't European regulations great? With as little as is permitted as additional weight on our cars, it'll hardly ever lift up the nose far enough to blind any oncoming traffic ... still, every car needs to have the f@cking height control ... oh well, mine doesn't, and won't ;)

Now I have to wait till 22. Aug. !!!!!! The Austrian authority has planty of time, but I want to drive my cabrio in summertime not in wintertime . . .
