Wondering, does anybody have 2 rims flying around that will fit a 2k Firebird? Can be banged up/scratched ... Thinking about getting some DOT drags, guess that would be easier with 16" rims ... but do they fit over the rear brake calipers?

Are you looking for 16" only? I have a broad range of wheels.

dunno ... what are decent DOT drag radials, will they come in 16 and 17" alike, at similar cost?

I would look into a 275 40 17 Nitto 555R drag radial. They are a pretty good bang for the buck. Keep in mind that they will only last around 10K street miles. I was able to stretch mine a little further than that, but it was pushing it.
On the 16" side I would go with a 255/50R16 BFG T/A DR. This will give more sidewall flex for drag grip. I think Nitto 555r's come in a 245/50R16. Those will be cheaper, but they will be slightly shorter than stock and narrower. They will be cheaper though.
Yes, they will be similiar in costs.
The site I usually look for prices for is down, but that is where I would start.

the 275/40 17 are pretty rare - BFG doesn't seem to have any, Nitto has the 555R @ 150$ ... can't seem to find the 255 R16 BFGs, though ...

Kirschbaum's wheels didn't fit - not sure what size they are though, may be 15" ... they interfered with the calipers ...

GArry, both BFG and MT make street radials to fit the 17" wheels. They are the same size tires as original.

Remember the brakes are the same between the V6 and V8 models from 98 on. The V6 came standard with 16 inch.

I guess 255's (255/50 R16) would still fit on 16x8, or?
