Dark Angel has the mod done to his car. He is happy with it. I think it looks like a science project with all of the hoses and filters. I go through about a quart between changes. Some say a thicker oil (10w30) will help....

GM is replacing the PCV's on it's SUV's and trucks with the LS1 type motor with a new type. It is hollow with a fixed orfice. PN is 12572717 if anyone is interested.

Hi 30birdy
A lot of LS1 engines have that
problem.Do you run high rpm's
under light load in 1st and 2nd
gear around town? If not live with it or get the pistons/rings
changed on warranty.There is a
GM service bulletin.The new 2002
LS1/LS6 for Camaros/Corvettes/
Holdens come with coated Mahle
pistons and different rings...

The local friendly Opel dealer wants to moniter my oil coumsuption over a period of 3,000 miles to determine if it is excessive. Problem 1: I only drive 3,000 miles a year. Problem 2: It has to lose like 2 quarts in that time.

3000 miles a year?? Are you TDY all the time, or are you just afraid of inclement weather? I guess that would be good for the life of the car, and for resale, but man, it's just too much fun driving these cars..

Well, I drove my 'vert about 7000k orabout 4500mi last year ... and that's almost all for meetings or races ... couple of smaller trips ... with the '79 hopefully running by May or so, that number might be even lower this year ... oh well ...

The past year I've been TDY or deployed over 6 months. I need a new job. When I do take it out I do drive it hard.
