My car occaisionally goes to a no start condition as it is again. I have to jump the car because the batt is low. I did a couple of logs and my questions are:
How fast does a typical LS1 have to turn (from the starter) to start? Also, is 13 degree spark advance acceptable for a cold start?

As for starting, my Hawk fires up just about instantaneously, even after sitting at the storage for 3 months ... guess with a decent tune and a moderate cam it should still be that way, though it may be a bit harder when cold ...

Brian your crank timing is temperature dependent . At this temperature we have been having 13 degrees advance is enough. If your cranking voltage drops below 10.5 volts , you will be hard pressed to start your car.

After looking at my logs, I finally figured the temp thing out. Thanks for the confirmation.
Yeah, I am definately going below 10.5 volts even with my beater jumping it. I guess I will get my truck over to try again tomorrow.

It is a new battery. 900CCA. I guess the problem is just from it sitting there. I did try to jump it with the truck tonight, but it just won't do it. I guess I lost another set of plugs. RRRrrrrrr.

If you have enough battery power to keep the computer running, and logging, it should start. In other words, if your scan data isnt interupted during cranking, you should have enough battery power to start the car. It could be a tune issue. When I get over there, we can try it from a cold start.

If it does not fire up instantly, and strongly, something is wrong, and repeatedly trying to start it does nothing. Do not keep trying to start it. Make sure you do have a good battery.
