All concerned
The tune file I was mentioning was the original file in Brians car prior to Ed tuning it .
I just compared Ed's file and the one Garry pulled just prior to the the engine destruction that day . The two files are identical.

It seems that file on EFI LIVe was the original file from Brians car.
There was some confusion and not enough information prior to my posting. That original file is pretty well hacked .

Ed,

Stay the hell OUT of my thread. Show me ANYWHERE that I have blamed you for the rod bolt online. As a matter of fact, this is the first time I even stated that it was tuned by you. I did not blame you for the rod bolt going. I blamed you for not completing what you were paid to do. I believe that you are a great tuner, but YOU overscheduled your time and ran out. You stiffed me (and a good friend) and then refused to refund any money. I have kept this entirely in a private format. Additionally, I have left it alone since your last entirely unprofessional contact. YOU are bringing it out in the open.

If you want to discuss it further PM me! If you want to bring it out in the open....start a new thread!

Edit for spelling.

Brian,
I'm merely responding to a thread that includes my name. Dont want me posting in your thread, dont mention my name in it.
The 'entirely unprofessional response' was due to feeling like someone was trying to extort money out of me.
Furthermore, I dont think it was unprofessional. I never cursed you. I never used any type of derogatory language.
And while you're telling everyone I stiffed you, why not tell the rest of the facts. I offered to help you dial in the MAF through the internet.
I came out a 2 am to come find you, drove for an hour, to try and help you with your hanging idle.
Now I come on here, just to see I'm accused of a tune that I didnt even write? Thats kinda low.
PS if you want me to, I can post the PM where you did accuse the tune of contributing to the rod bolt breaking.

I SO let this alone and took it as a loss. I guess it won't happen that way though.

First and foremost. I asked for my money back because you were to provide the service of a full tune while you were here. I asked you prior to starting what to expect if I have you do it. You did not complete it.. Again, that is why I asked for my money back.

Uhm, when was this part of the plan.....oh yeah, when YOU ran out of time and did not complete it!

edcmat-l1 wrote:

Again, I had to go out of my way (1 hour) to get to you to fix WHAT WAS NOT FINISHED. This meeting was only scheduled because the tune was not complete AND it was supposed to be for 8 PM. Luckily, I called you before I left to make sure I would not get stood up. Suprise, I would have! I was told to call back time and time again that night because you were at dinner. You knew full well that I had to be at work at 0600 that morning and you continually postponed it until 2 in the morning. Then you spent all of 30 minutes trying to fix the idle and then determined that you had to leave. Guess what? It still was not done!

I DID NOT say that. I merely said that the tune that Garry pulled was from my car a couple of runs prior to the malfunction.

PS go ahead! Just make sure you post the whole thing stating that it obviously did not contribute to the rod bolt malfunction and that it WAS NOT COMPLETE! Sound familiar. The tune WAS NOT COMPLETE. Do you hire a cleaning service for your ENTIRE house and then let them just clean the living room? I doubt it. I bet you would ask for your money back. :?

Brian,
Your complaint from the beginning is that the MAF was not dialed in. That is a small portion of a tune. You asked for ALL your money back. You were not going to be happy with half, or a 1/4.
And yes. In a PM you said you wanted your money back because it "contributed" to the motor blowing up.
The way you even went about asking for your money back was lame.
All because the MAF wasnt dialed in.
I leave alot of cars in SD. Doesnt seem to be a problem for the most part.

If I wanted SD I would have asked for it. I wanted a complete tune as you offered.

Lame or not You did not complete the service. You offered nothing other than excuses and shifted blame.

Shifted the blame? For what?
You're right I didnt "offer" anything. You didnt ask for "some" of the money back. You didnt ask for "half" the money. You wanted it "all".
If you pay someone to clean your house, and they clean all of it except mopping the basement floor, would you think you'd be entitled to all you money back?
I'll tell you again just like I told in you PM, its more the way you asked than anything at this point.

Hey Ed,

I have not heard back from my fbodyeurope PM's.

Here's where I am at.....I want my money back.

Reasoning.....My engine with less than 3000 miles has now shot a rod bolt from the side of the block. Multiple shortcomings from the unfinished tune have contributed. Obviously, the tune did not cause the bolt to exit the block, but it did contribute to the lack of detonation detection and rev limit. This tune was never completed as initially told to me. I was supposed to be fully tuned when you left and that did not happen. I know that you know what you are doing, but I was definately shorted while you were here in Germany.

Brian
Brian,
Please tell me what I did to contribute to your engine shooting a rod bolt out the side of the block?
At no time during logging, did you car exhibit any signs of detonation. Furthermore, I did nothing to decrease the detonation detection, further, furthermore, I left you car in better condition than it was when I got there.
Even furthermore, I came out at 2 AM and CAME TO YOU, when you couldnt find ME, to try and make your hanging idle better. Which, by the way, was hanging at 2000 rpms (by your own admission) BEFORE, and when I left was down to 1400 AT THE MOST, again by your own admission.
If you can give me just ONE of the "MULTIPLE short comings from the unfinished tune" that had contributed, I may consider refunding A PORTION of your money, but to be perfectly honest, it pisses me off when someone accuses me of something as ridiculous as this.
Asking for a refund, or even a partial refund, doesnt piss me off, its the trying to blame me, or any tuner for that matter for something like a rod bolt coming out of your block. Not even detonation would do that. Sorry. Aint gonna happen. You'll melt a piston first. Or break a ring land. Or hell, in an extreme case, if the pistons and rings live, you'll smash the top half of the bearing shell.
The above are the first correspondence between me and Brian. I thought I would just let people know how it went down. If I need to post the rest to show how it played out I will. At no time did my responses get any more unprofessional than this one.
You even say at the beginning that you had not received responses to your Fbodyeurope PMs. Which turns out is not true. I answered every single one of them.
Only reason I even responded in this thread was because I was mentioned by name. And wrongly so at that. For all I know you intentionally posted the wrong tune.

Nope sure didn't, your last response stated that YOU were going to configure a log setup to get what you needed.......I never got it.

and all the people say "Why Brian.....why?".

Did I blame you for the rod bolt? Ummmm.....No. That wasn't the end of the sentance either.
chevroletfreak wrote:

Hey that sounds like blame for something. Maybe an unfinished tune?

"Obviously, the tune did not cause the bolt to exit the block". Highlighted to ensure you have read what you are still trying to blame me for.

Wow, might that have something to do with an UNFINISHED TUNE?

Unfinished tune?

Unfinished tune?

OK. Probably nothing.

Cool.

Good job, but did you finish it.......NO!

edcmat-l1 wrote:

Yeah thanks for continuously postponing the 8PM appointment (from the original start time) until 0200 so that you can "have dinner". I applaud your efforts. :pat: Especially since the tune should have been completed before you abruptly left from the tune session. That would have made the trip completely uneccessary.

edcmat-l1 wrote:

Great! Thats a start. Is it finished.......NO!

I agree that there should have been other damage if that was the case.

Agreed.

Again, where is the log tune you said you would send in the previous PM?

edcmat-l1 wrote:

Nope as I told you privately before.....sure didn't. Where's the log tune?

edcmat-l1 wrote:

I NEVER posted any tune. As a matter of fact I NEVER blamed or named you as being involved. Look back in the posts. All I said was that it was "interesting" that someone saw problems with a tune. Maybe it was my tune...maybe it wasn't. Either way if it was the tune from you that was in my car when the engine blew it was unfinished!

You are wrong in sooo many aspects and are still just trying to tread water. I have already accepted the loss and let it go. Take it at that and drop it or refund my money!

Unfortunately, since you are bringing this in the open I have to respond to your attempt to shift blame. Your attempt to tune was a joke because of your time scheduling skills....not your competency as a tuner, but your time scheduling skills and mixing pleasure with business. Thats what it came down to. Is the tune finished....NO!!!!

Interesting. Thats funny you say that.

It was just tuned by Ed from Hp Factory when he was here a couple of months ago.

I will have to look at what you are talking about and see if I can see what you are seeing. I have no clue on the tuning stuff that is why I paid Ed to do it.

Tell me again where you didnt mention my name?
As for being wrong, I'm not wrong about any of it.
You did ask for all your money back.
You did accuse me of at least "contributing" to your engine blowing up.
I did answer all PMs. I did not send a config file, but you also never responded again. Sometimes I need reminders. I'm old and gettin absent minded. LOL
You did mention my name in this thread, as quoted above, even though you insist up until your last post that you had not.
I am not even attempting to shift blame, only trying to tell you, show you, why you will not get a full refund.
And apparently you did post the tune, or at least A tune, over on EFIlive?
I was right about it not being mine.
Tell me again where I'm wrong?
The tune was "unfinished" as you would call it, but I do not believe that is conditions for a FULL refund.
It is ABSOLUTELY NOT the cause of your broken rod bolt. Not even close. Not even if it pinged itself to death.
