Has anyone replaced the factory LS1 spark plug wires with something else than stock? Did you do this due to age of the wires? What replacement did you use?

Yes . The heat and age of the wires were causing misfires. I used MSD replacement wires which were cheaper than factory replacements.

Were these misfires noticable without a scanner or...? Because my engine sounds still normal, just wondering if I change plugs AND wires anyway next spring.

it could also be the spark plugs. i know it isn't a Camaro but.. my jeep was getting a check engine light for a random misfire, ran fine (i thought) but the light kept coming on after i cleared the code. someone had put Bosch platinums in my jeep just before i bought it and it didn't run right with em. i put cheapo champion plugs in it and it ran a lot smoother. no more misfire.

Nope . I was picking up random misfires above the threshold I set with the scanner. I decided to check it out and as I pulled the cables to do a check, two of the cables pulled apart from deterioation.

OK, so I guess it can't hurt changing plugs and wires (got 70000km on plugs and 120000km/9 years on wires).

Also start the car in a dark garage with the hood up. Look for whire/blue arching around the wire. On bad sets you will see all the lectric current flowing away from them.

Hey Ben, I know this is an old post but, have you already changed your plugs/wires?
I just want to make sure you don't pay retail. :D
