Hi everyone,

There's an electrical problem in the headlight circuit of my European-version '99 Camaro Z28. To solve the problem, I need the wiring diagram. I already have the US wiring diagram but many of the wires are different on the European version, so would anyone have the Euro diagram?

Please help... this is my only car and I can't drive at night without headlights!

I doubt there are any real differences ... what's the problem you're having?

I believe that because I put euro spec head light assemblies into a camaro and I had no problem doing that.

Well, apart from the height-adjustment maybe ... that probably adds a line or two ...

There is definitely different wiring diagrams for Europe (even for Canada). Apparently they are included on a 3-volume service manual that's for sale in the US (can't remember the publisher) but I haven't been able to find these diagrams.

There are NOT tons of thing that differ between the US and Euro wiring but unfortunately the headlights are one of them (but maybe not the taillights, as Roy mentions). If you look at the harness connecting at the back of the headlight switch there are several different wires.

Anyway here's my problem: My headlights (low beams AND high beams) have suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. All the other lights are working.

There's no fuse for the headlights on our cars, instead there is a relay for them. According to the US wiring diagram, that relay is part of the DRL (Daytime Running Lamps) Module which is mounted behind the radio (I'm not sure if this module is also mounted in Europe, I'd have to take the radio out to have a look).

I've taken out the headlight switch (on the left of the dash) for inspection and it was obviously shot, as it was rattling. So I ordered another switch (used) on ebay from the US. I've just put it on the car and it doesn't solve my problem. :( Now I have headlights VERY DIM for just 1 or 2 seconds and then they come off (I'm guessing that's the circuit breaker inside the switch that's doing its work).

I've checked the headlight switch for continuity with a multimeter and it seems to be working fine. I'm thinking maybe it could be a short circuit... Anyone's got any idea? I don't know much about electricity... :pat:

Just looked at my factory manual and it shows no different schematic for export models.

Thanks for looking Roy. I have the Haynes manual and it doesn't have the european wiring either.

According to this post on LS1tech.com, all the European wiring diagrams are on the "Helm In" shop manual:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-electronics/1175981-wiring-diagrams-98-02-euro-spec.html

I went to the site for "Helm In", they sell their 3-volume manual for $135: :|
http://www.helminc.com/helm/result.asp?Style=helm

...a bit out of my budget I'm afraid.

I'm gonna ask on LS1tech if anyone's got that manual and could possibly scan me the page on the headlights.

Oh, so you have that manual and the Euro diagrams are not in there... damn. :(

I think I have a short circuit, I'm gonna see if I can test the wires.

und drl RUNNING LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS

http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/9097/drllights.gif

http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/9016 ... lights.gif

Check at light switch - Red is always Hot at all times in --- 12 Volts
- Yellow is Hot when switch is on
IF YOU HAVE DRL
YELLOW GOES TO IT AND OUT OF IT when it works right.

After High Beam Switch ---Tan is hot Low Beam
--- Light Green is Hot when High Beam
if thats fine , then fuses, or a ground problem !
or all the lightbulbs ar blown ....lol

Do you have a way to check for 12Volts... a voltmeter ?
