ALL,
Looking at purchasing headers for my 98 LS1, I currently have an Eibach lowering kit on the car so it sits low. Not sure what type; Long tube or shorty Headers will work. Also looked at Flowtech, any recommendations from the Board

AFAIK shorty headers will not give you a lot of power over stock. Long tube headers will...
I have not done headers on my car but from all what I've read Kooks are good ones that will fit without problems...

Joe,
Take a look at ARH American Racing Headers. They are longtube and will be my next buy for a header. I currently have SLP long tubes which are good but hang weigh to low . I can't recommend them for lowered cars unless scraping on speed bumps is okay .

The only issue would be pure loudness.

Stock midpipe will not connect to any Longtube headers without serious modifications.

At that price, make sure their 100% stainless steel for longevity. I don't believe the ones pictured from BBK are for that price. Mild steel with coatings will only last a couple of years for a daily driver vehicle.

stainless works

Kooks Custom headers

American Racing Header

The three headers above I have seen on 4th gen ls1s and the fit tight to the body, which is great for lowered cars.

SLP Long tube

This is SLP's new LT for 4th gen LS1's , They claim it hugs the body tighter then their equal length tube LT.

I had their equal length tube it was a good header but it hung too for lowered cars.

All these headers are SS for years of trouble free daily driving.

The BBK ceramic has pretty good reviews, I think they would be good.

I put Patriot long tubes on mine, they are pretty nice, good sound, nice power ...

Not sure how much of a pain it would have been to put them in with the motor in place, but with them attached while the motor was out, they fit quite well ...

TSP Headers or Pacesetter. I know that in the early 2000s, Pacesetters or SLP were the headers to get. The early SLPs had terrible flow. The Pacesetters made great power but the coating would flake off. Since then, Pacesetter fixed the coating problem. The price for the PS and TSPs are the same.

Those are the ones I would have purchased. The Y-pipe connection to the exhaust might be a little tricky. I think I had to cut mine down some.

I will have to check with HP tuners to ensure I can access the 98 computer. I can tune it if the program will access it. I do all of my own tuning to my Speed Density 416. Alot of growing pains over the years but never hurt the motor.
