i have already talked to randy about this, but i am endevoring to rebuild the 4l60e in my firebird. i was hoping that one of you out there may have any tips, or things i should avoid doing while i am working. this isn't one of those things i want to do more than once. this will be the first, and hopefully last, transmission that i have ever worked on short of changing the filter. any info would help ALOT!

Well, I've rebuild my TH-350 and it sucked. I had no clue what I was doing, just had a book. I just took it slowly step by step according to the book and I was okay. Only made one mistake, the tranny oil pump gasket was misaligned. After I got that fixed, it worked fine. If your tranny has any similarities to a 350, you'll definetly need some special pliers to take all the snap rings out plus at least two slide hammers for the tranny oil pump.
My recommendation: Get a book and take your time.

thanx for the advice. my father sent me the rebuild kit and some very nice books on the 4L60E. (Lot's of Pic's!) from what i understand the 4L60E is nothing more than a slightly modified electronic version of the 700R4. i went into this endevor blindly and have learned quite a bit along the way. if anyone would like to see or get some experience working with this type of tranny, just reply to this and i will let you know when i am doing it.
