While people's definition of stock vary greatly mine consists of modifications that cost very very little or no money $15 max a mod.

list of mods to my car
-Dremel ported MAF
-Made my own Exhaust cutout rather than purchasing new exhaust (big thumbs up! on this 1)
-Made my own Cold air scoop from aluminum flashing (underneath the air box)
-Removed air box and plugged 15 dollar cone air filter in
-Throttle Body Coolant Bypass
-Removed thermostat
-put in switch to manually turn on fans (cooler is faster!)
++++++++++++++++++++ THE SECRET!!!!!!!!!!++++++++++++++++++
The biggest secret to getting your stock LT1 too run fast ..................... drumroll please......... A FUC*ING Tune - Up.

While this was not free by any means only stock parts were put in so theoretically im not spending $ on mods
My car ran high 15s when I bought it.
The distributor failed so I replaced it with a new Optispark Distributor ($600 us dollars!!), AcDelco 7mm stock plug wires ($90!!), new platinum ACDELCO plugs ($5 a piece! platinum tip plugs provide longevity not performance go to a copper plug for performance but shorter life)

While this was expensive as all hell this took me from high 15s to 14.4's (b4 my mods)
so b4 you all spot that pretty chrome cold air consider a tune up.

I disagree. Maintance should be a ongoing affair If you wanna increase power N/A bigest gains will be made with your Head and cam combo.
Best ET 11.52 @ 138.42MPH (yes it was spinning)

no, im just saying. B4 you spend money on mods give your car a good 100,000 mile tune-up otherwise your wasting alot of money 11.52 at 140!!! you would have to have 700 hp to go 140 in the 1/4 mile and those et/speed do not match up ill beleive it when you post the time slip

You can believe it. I was there and saw the time slip. If Hawk could have gotten traction, the time would have been much lower.

ok my dad has had a few race cars one was a 2200 pound vega with a 600 hp 427 ....... It ran 9.50's @ 145 It was a very expensive fully tube frame purpose built race car.

Typically (this is a pretty accurate generallization) every 1,000 pounds slows a car down about .9 lets say 1 second for simplicity (100 pounds= .1 etc)
A camaro weighs 3400 pounds stock. ( You cant argue with this 1 cause I weighed my car and on an empty tank weighed 3350) ok thats 1,200 extra pounds if a camaro with 600 hp ran it would most likely run in the neghtborhood of 10.45 - 10.65 depending on how well it is set up @ 130mph (horse power usually has a direct affect on speed no matter what the gear)thats with 600 hp now we add the additional horsepower in and ill use http://www.dsm.org/tools/calchp.htm wich I found to be remarkably acurate and with 700 hp you would run.... 138 mph and if car was set up too hook well and with good gears would go 9.85 YEAH RIGHT!! too give you an idea of how fast that is there are a few brothers named EMMONS at the track.. They are famous NHRA Stock Eliminator racers. They have to Stocker firebirds with lt1s. They run 10.80s and have 500 hp with 500 hp these guys are pulling 3 foot wheelstands almost on the bumper! and their cars weigh 3200 pounds so they r no featherlights There is no way a car would either

A.) be a street driven 9 second car.

B.)Spin so badly it cut 1 second and a half off an ET. The car would be sitting there forever spinning for it to run that MPH with that E.T.

Like I said Ill beleive it when I see the timeslip.... Scan a pic and post it and ill beleive you. Im not trying to be an Asshole but I just dont see how that would be possible.

Gary is there any way we can post the last Bitburg MPH and ET's? I am making pretty close to 600RWHP It will be a street drivin 10 second car next year. But It is a street car and not a drag car. I drag race on the weekends. Track is a old airstrip and not prepared I had severe mid track spin. I really do not care if you beleive it!!! I would gladly waste ya though.

All,
I am going to go by Tony's after work today and see if I can get a copy of the information from the last Bitburg races. I already talked with Connie about this but never followed it up. If I get it I'll bring it with me Saturday.

To tell you the truth I was expecting some lame excuse like I lost the timeslip or my scanner is broke. Im kinda leaning on the beleiving you side im just giving you a hard time becuase I have run Acrossed too many jackasses who have never been to a dragstrip before and claim that there stock ford taurus runs 12's. Then they call my car slow. They have no clue how fast a 13second pass is in a stock car no less an 11 second pass in a modified car....for example 1 car people consider fast is the Mid 80's Lambroghini Countachs however they run 14's and most people dont know that lol I dont think any ford tauruses or Chevy S10s are gonna beat that either lol Sorry for the hard time

I hear ya. BTW It was pretty much a stock susepension and to make matters worse It was lowered for looks. However I know guys in the states set there cars up for the track. Creating the 1.4-1.5 6o ft time my best was a 1.88. I know I have suspension issues already orderd QA1 shocks and gettin a set of V6 springs. Roll cage will be this winter and a drag launch bar should put my car in the 10's. It would not be a daily driver to run a setup found in a 9 sec car. I know I have the power but I have alot of fun driving the car not towing it. I have a new engine and some happy gas. I currently have a 11 sec street car. I never said I have a 9 sec street car but I plan to have a 10 second street car next year. I will try to get the info posted soon for ya.
