Can anyone tell me how much it should cost to have a new optispark unit installed? I have a friend with a 94' TA with 130,000 and the opti went out. The dealer quoted him at $1350 for all the parts, install, tax yada yada yada........ Since I have never had this problem (knock on wood) I have no clue if that is over priced or what not. Just looking for any help out there. Thanks!

$183 from Dal or Jason Cromer for the opti itself... few more for a case of beer and a couple hours of work to do it yourself. Should come in under $200.

1. Dont believe all the crap you hear about the opti, its actually a pretty good system. Most of the stories are from people that didnt check there coil wire, plugs/plug wires first. (I always thought you checked from the cheapest up??!!)

2. Like Jeff said, order it from a cheap dealer. Put it on ramps, drain the coolant, pop the water pump, pop the crank pulley, and swap it yourself. You can do this on car ramps in about 2-3 hours and put that other 1000 euro into mods.
