Hi,
I have a TRANS AM 1996 (with 55.000 km) and drive with this car only round about 5000 km pro year. I drive a lott in the middle of city (stop and go drive), and sometimes on Autobahn with higher speed.
I drive only in summertimes.
Last year I have take the VALVOLINE SAE 5W-30 Öl for long life and economic results. Now I don´t konw what I use this year (I must do a change)?
Mobile / VALVOLINE Motorsport Öl SAE 10W-50 or SAE 10W-60 Race Öl. They must be go (information from Mobile and VALVOLINE) for higher speed drive on hot days and much stop and go drives.
I don´t konw what are better? With the economic ÖL I need only 10 liter gas/benzing on 100 km Autobhan with round about 140-160 km/h speed. And this is verry economic. (I konw some peoples which need on the same Autobahn with the same speed round about 14-18 liters!).
So I don´t konw what are the best?
What do you use, and how much do you drive? Which engine have you? And where do you drive (more Autobahn or City?)?
How much kilometers have your car? Etc.?
What do you think is the best for me?
Thank you verry much!
Daniel

Thank you.
So I think I drive this year again with SAE 5W-30 Öl. From Mobile1 or VALVOLINE.

I use mobil 1 10w30. But it doesn't get as cold here as it does there.

Mobile 1 is all I'll use. By the way, Reeves Callaway (turbo Vettes) only honors the warranty on his engines if Mobile 1 is used. I just don't recommend changing brands every oil change. A guy I know swears by Red Line Oil, it's all he'll use. Just find yourself a good synthetic oil and enjoy your car.

That reminds me ... got to do an oil change ... how many qts fit in the 3.8l V6 engine? So what do you think, 5W30 for the V6, too??

I have buy the VAVOLINE 5W-30. It is a verry good Oil.
The last year it works perfect. I see, the most use 5/10W-30. This is the best for the car.

Straight dino castrol GTX for me. Maybe one day I'll switch over but in doing so I'd have to get the best and that's Amsoil.

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W30 .... 3 1/2 Quarts of it (1 1/2 qts low)
If your looking for valuable hundredths u wann run the oil 1 - 2 qts low... this makes sure the crank isnt dragging through the oil and slowing you down. As long as the oil pickup is submerged... you got nothing to worry about! and If you blow your motor up....it aint my fault! lol but I have been driving my car like this since I got it frequent oil changes and running the oil low. Just so it BARELY touches the dip stick

So, is it about 5qts in the V6 engine, too? I know I used somewhere around that amount on my 79's 350 ...

I was just wondering, as I want to buy enough ... not like when I filled the tranny on the '79 ... going out and buying a couple half-qt bottles, filling them in, getting more, filling them in, getting more ...

I use befor I make the öl-changing, a motor cleener from Lyqui Molly. It is verry good, to get a clean inside motor, and so new and verry good quality of the new Oil.
