Hot rod..... the calc u gave me has got to be completely off.....

I can eat an LS1 alive by about .4 yet it says I have 317 flywheel HP although they are factory under rated at 325

and hawk althouth I like the results of your calc more ....(317 RWHP...412 Flywheel HP) I dont think thats correct either...then again a friend of mines firebird dynoed 285 RWHP and ran 13.5 so maybe thats right but I just cant imagine with the limited mods I have that I can be making that much power.

and Car test....thats all fucked up
I have to enter Ungodly high Torque numbers and Shitty low HP numbers to get my quick ET/Slow mph that I run (no converter, gear, or anything)

like 350 hp and 450 torque

the 13.03 mind you if WITH manifolds and as soon as I can get some slicks I expect to see 12.70s maybe 12.60 if I pull out the pass. seat and take off the serp. belt....
the car definitely has Unbeleivable more power with the headers I LOVE em.

Jeff was running 12's withn a cam ,shorties and nittos. RWHP is more realistic than SAE. BTW flywheel HP is not taking your drivetrain into consideration. Cars are sold using Net HP this is the power it makes running the Water pump alt and other ACC at the flywheel it is about 15% loss for a standard and 20% for a automatic to get RWHP. A Dyno measures RWHP. Example is a 02 ZO6 is making 360-370 RWHP

I broke 5 CC941's last year I am currently running CC918 seems to have a bit more power. My cam is a custom Comp Cam 224/228 Dur@ .50 581/588 lift on a 114 LSA with 11.1 CR.

Well Im planning on building a stocker so I got a cheater cam.....specs are all the same as stock but the lobe lift angle is almost straight up....The lobes are littlerally like squares with rounded edges....that way you have the valve open more, longer without well....popping the valve open more or popping it open for a longer duration get what I mean?

Its open for the same duration but instead of a slow gradual opening it slams open and shut so its full lift for a LONG time....witout changing duration...so on the card it looks like a stock cam.

Then it should have close to a stock powerband. Mine has the aggressive ramp rates you are talking about. I have I set of new CC941 with titanium retainers. they would work great on your set up they are designed to work with stock hyd lifters. LT1 guys run these all the time they with no problems I could sell them pretty cheap and then you could do the install.

I could mail something small US priority mail and you would have it in a week. It is the bigger stuff that is expensive like tires and roll bars and ford 9 in.

Car test is awesome, that is if you know how to use correctly. You must use all the advance parameters and standard parameters to get it to work correctly.

I seen guys going low elevens on them

You should try the nitto's. I have seen people go low elevens on them also. I will not put another tire on the back of my car. If I can hook dead balls with 4.10's on the street at a 3500 dump you should be able to at a prepped track with a A-4 and no stall. When and if mine get here you are welcome to try them. Just smoke the piss out of them before you stage and hold on. I have mine set at 18lbs. How far are you from Ft.Hood? ET's are hard on the glass 10bolts we have. Few get lucky, most do not.

For what its worth I was clocking 109 MPH before cam on the stock manifolds. I then threw in the hotcam, no tuning and got 299 RWHP(LaRocca's in NJ mustang tuner) he said I was probably putting about 380 to the flywheel then. Went to Germany threw in the headers, got a mail tune (ick!) and went 112 MPH. I am guessing I should be around 325-350 RWHP.

Jeff

HELL YEAH THAT SOUNDS GREAT! lol dad says fort hood is up near dallas (4hrs. north) you may wanna run at HRP its about .1 - .2 faster than dallas because dallas is up in the hills.

I used TTS datamaster's dyno tool and tested my car today,
Unfortunately I had the AC on so I got some lower numbers than I should have :( Results....

371 HP @ 5,100 RPM (flywheel HP)
295 RWHP @ 5100
this is with the presumed 20% Automatic Drivetrain loss. (lock up turned off too)

Does anyone know how much Horse Power AC take away? I had it on by accident at super chevy show in houton last summer and it took .25 away from my ETs so Im guessing 25 HP but I wanna know for sure...

I bet Im scratching at the heels of 400hp

Oh damn! I forgot I take my serp. belt off all the time at the track if I wanna go especially fast for just one run and it picks me up .15.... A friend of mine had his car on a dynojet dyno and picked up 14 RWHP doing that.... 14 + 2.8 (for drivetrain loss) is about 17 more HP ....371 and 17 is 388 Horse power........with AC on!!! however I friend told me he THINKS the pcm shuts the AC off at full throttle but I remember loosing quite a bit of ET leaving it on by accident one time so I dont know if its true or not.

Yes the AC does shut off at WOT but it takes a cpuple tenths to do so.

But I'm still trying to figure out your fuzzy math. Even with a 20% power loss your BHP (CRANK HP) would only be around 354 at the crank. 20% parasitic loss is quite generous . 15% would be closer to real world.

its not my math, 20% loss was pre-entered for an automatic, and I entered 0% loss and it said 295 so that would be my RWHP lets see 371 was the reults ( I added 17 more hp from the belt thing I do at the track to get 388)
371/10 = 37.1
37.1*2 = 74.2
371 - 74.2 = 297 which is close to my 295 I just placed my cursor on the highest curve on the graph and it told me the power at that line in numeric form I may have had cursor one notch higher or lower.

and like I said I was using the pre-entered 20% loss remember im an automatic which has alot more power loss than a 6 speed

here is a quote I found on the net "Let's use my own car for some sample calculations. In stock form, it has 165 hp @ 5600 RPM and 166 lb-ft @ 4000 RPM.

Dyno results have shown that the car has around 127 peak hp at the wheels. That's a 23.03% loss. " REMEMBER THAT WAS A QUOTE MY CAR IS NOT THAT BALLESS

Image <----results Screen Shot

The reason you are crossed up is because you multiplyed 295 * 1.2 to get that 354 Horsepower number but you are going backwards... You need to multiply 371 times .2 (20%) to get 74.2 hp loss and subtract it to get the RWHP you cant go the other way around

HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP You are Correct Sir

I jumped 6 frames ahead (6 frame/sec recording rate was set)
and I re-did the Horsepower calculation..

387 HP@5200 RPM !!! Your right the AC clutch does shut off but it takes a second....
With 0% drivetrain loss entered the Dyno says 310 RWHP

WOW also this makes much more sense because the max RPM is rated at 5200 so this curve is probably more accurate

with the extra 17 HP from taking my belt off thats a grand total of 404 HP at the track.... before I had my headers I was going 13.ohs spinning a lil the headers were supposed to get me .3 and take me down to 12.70's - 12.60s which make sense because the Z06s at my track are running 12.40s STOCK and are a helluva lot lighter so I beleive that number is fairly accurate. Sorry Man I still disagree with . If you dynoed 295 at the wheels and from the fly wheel to rear tires you have a 20% parasitic loss. The n you can do this a couple of ways .
295X120%= 354

or you can do it the old way

295X 20% =59
59+295 =354

For whatits worth When I Dynoed my car when it was stock it came across at 290 on dyno. I used a 10 percent parasitic loss percentage and so did the dyno operator.
I came to 319at the flywheel on an engine rated at 320.
