well the air was at 2,000 feet again this weekend making it 4,000 feet worse than when I ran 13.03 before my mods but damnit it should at least go friggen 12s!

Just for s-h-i-t-s and giggle , can you get ahold of 25 or 26 inch tall tires and try those. Those tall tires are probably killing your off the line torque

the car is actually geared perfect... shifting at 5,400 now and crossing the line at 5,400 its as good as it gets... little tires will probably make me 60' better but thats it. I need a good converter for the torque multiplication.

5,200 is the peak horsepower of a stock LT1
If you shift at 5.400 you will not be letting the motor fall on its face and loosing valuable ET and also when it recovers from its shift it will start around 3,600 (automatic) Righ smack in the middle of the stock LT1s torque curve so it can pull its hardest..
5,400 is THE BEST rpm to shift at theoretically and it worked awsome for me.

5400 is the best huh? I got my best time shifting just under the rev limiter. Thats about 6000-6100. Why do people spend thousands to build rev engines up to and beyond 7000 if 5400 is the best? I also think you should try a shorter tire.

5,400 is the best on a stock cam for an automatic...
different cams yield different power curves and therefore different effective shiftpoints

I was running stock cam. I used to know plenty of stock cam auto guys trying to up the rev limiter with hppIIIs to go faster. What do i know, I'm only Dave.

In order to shift at 5,400, do you need to lift? Or did you program the computer so it shifts early? On my car in the 1/8th, I'd shift to 2nd @ 6,300 and I would just be about to hit the limiter in 2nd at the line (6,400) This was @ 80mph. My car is fairly stock compared to many others on this board.

well, look at a dyno sheet on a stock LT1 it makes its peak horsepower at
5,200 if you keep going on past that your just running down the track with less and less horsepower as the RPMs climb up
I have my car programmed to shift at 5,400 and thats where itr shifts... and it does the best there.

One of the main reasons is me in particular with the snake (not the Z28). I can rev to 7k bone stock....do I make any power there? NO! (I shift at 6.7k +/-in the cobra, btw) A stock LT1 will not make power much past 5k. Pro 5.0 cars shift at 9k, why? cuz they are set up to do it thru gears/cam/heads. With my old configuration I could snatch all kinds of knots in LS1 azz by shifting at 5k (stock gauge could be 4.9-could be 5.4k who knows) but then again, I think my LT1 ran alittle stronger than most (excepting Jeffs of course....did I mention I owe you Jeff )
The only reason I see a person wanting to rev high is if they're heads can support it ...ie LS1, Cobra etc. An LT1 is just a L98 with alittle more breathing room. IMHO. Now if you have the latest whizz bang heads from GTP or ARE, then maybe you want to run her up there.

Just for grins, try shifting it manually at 5800-6000 and see what happens. Bet you get what you are looking for. What do you have to lose? Personally, there has never been a small block built that I would shift at less than 5800 unless it was one of the ugly smog motors that wouldn't wind that high. Chevy's love RPMs.

well I would try, but seeing my motor is all over the garage floor im gonna wait
The cam I got pulls to 6,500 so I will shift at 6,800 probably.....
The SAME RPM I lifted at when I spun all the bearings in my stock motor.....wooohoohoo spoooky
