Here's what I bought:
Stage II head/cam package from Competition Motorsports
Heads:
- Hot tank and thoroughly inspect cylinder heads
- Complete combustion chamber porting, maximum burn pattern and flame speed
- Unshroud combustion chamber
- Fully hand ported intake and exhaust runners
- Ferrea 6000 series valves 2.00” intake (2.02” for iron heads)/1.56” exhaust
- 2.00" intake/1.60” exhaust valves for nitrous/supercharged applications (Supercharged)
- Port volume matched to application-supercharged, naturally aspirated, nitrous etc.
- Pro Race 3 angle valve job
- Resurface heads to desired compression ratio
- Comp Cams high performance dual valve springs
- Chrome Moly ultra light weight retainers and machined locks for increased RPM range
- Viton valve seals
- Set all valve spring pressures and heights
- Flow bench test with print out
- Fully assembled head, ready to bolt on (core required)
Plus:
- Ported LT1/LT4 intake manifold (58mm throttle body ready)
- Custom ground Competition Cams camshaft, completely customized for your goals
- Competition Cams chromemoly pushrods
- Competition Cams Pro Magnum full roller rockers
But don't forget:
2-bolt main stud kit
fancy LT4 valve covers
Total: $3500 including $300 core charge and $200 estimated shipping.
Time to save for the D-1 Procharger. The question is do I get the 9" first or save a little for the charger first? I'll figure it out.[/b]

wow ... quite a shopping list you have there ... Any estimate on when it'll be together?

Since the above mentioned stuff is custom, it will take about two weeks to finish. Then about a week in the mail. So hopefully I will be running in 4 to 5 weeks. I don't know enough to do it myself so I may have to wait a little longer depending on how busy the people that are willing to help me are.

Great choice. Seth and Sam are great people to deal with. I have a set of those heads sitting back in the states waiting for me to put them on the end of June. Hope I don't blow the stock bottom end up before I get the car to Ramstein in August.
I am curious to see what your flow sheet looks like. Also, did you get iron or aluminum? 1.56 or 1.60 exhaust valves? What cam did you go with? Good luck, I think you will love it.

The heads are aluminum and set up for supercharger application. The exhaust valves will be 1.6 and porting will have an emphasis on the exhaust. Cam will also be a custom grind blower cam. Specs are: 224/236 duration @.050", .536"/.555" lift with 1.6 rockers. Should be a decent, very streetable setup that should pass emissions.

I figure with the stock motor, full exhaust and 1.6 RR, around a 12.7. I did 14.25 at 100.53 at 4550lbs, 4200ft altitude and 2.4 60fts. Heads and cam are going on end of June, and Bryan Herter dyno tune for the big SS get together in Tulsa should put me at a mid 11 at that weight. I love four doors!

Did you get any parts yet? Did you check out the bottom half of that motor? If so, how does it look? Are going to make it out to the track this weekend? Try to pass the word around. Lets try to get a good showing from the Bit/Spang area.

Parts are not here yet. Just got off the phone with C Motorsports and they should be finished with the heads within a week. Then it's just a matter of postal service. I have not had a chance to open up the short block yet. I guess I could do it ghetto like on the floor. I'm going to have to take the pan off anyway to put the stud kit in. All that can be done at the same time.

Just curious,
Did you say you were going to get that Impala into the mid 11's? If so I am just curious what your set up is. Later, Mike

Yep. ATI P1S1 at 8psi, Cmotorsports stage II heads(2.02int1.60ex), 220/230 114LS .544/.544lift CC, Clearimageautomotive TRI-Y mid-length headers, RT cats, Dynomax catback with cutouts and a few small things here and there.

Whoa, I got you now. Wouldn't it be cheaper to build a 383 though? Just wondering. Those SC's are expensive, although I would love one I am sure I would blow up my poor little engine. Later, Mike

A quality stroker would cost about as much as a supercharger. I might go stroker when I blow this bottom end up. I'm just trying to see how long this 188K mile stock bottom end and stock tranny will last!

Thought about buying that Powerdyne off Howie but now I don't think so. Ging for the big dog now. Procharger D-1. Give me 3 months, I'll have it. I'm about halfway there for the cost.
Strokers are way more expensive if you are building a complete engine. $3600-$4000 just for the short block. Unless you go the budget with cast crank. My total now is $5500 for the 355 and head/cam package. So put it right at $10,000 once I get the D-1.
