I'll be in Giessan tomarrow, so there will be no progress.
For those that are interested, this is what it looks like now. Pure forged fury, and the only thing not shown besides the acces...(water pump and such) is the single stage hit from the juice. I just put it togethor for some photo ops.

Now that is a hogged out head! Damn I thought mine were huge. You might just have me Rob. Must be nice to use the stock oil pan w/ that 383. What size cam you got in there?

Hate to tell ya but ya ain't gonna squeeze no 427 out of a LT1. Even if you sleeve the cylinders. The most you can get away w/ is 414ci but you are talking serious money. The crank alone is gonna set ya back at least 2K. There is a guy here WHO claims he built a 421 LT1 w/ custom steel sleeves etc. I'd give you his name and location but I doubt his ability. Give me another 3 wks and I'll let ya know if he's legit.

Raised hell in what way? Honestly I'd buy a 396 short blk from the states and have it shipped here. Machine work is twice what you'd pay in the states. Polishing a crank for example 500 bucks. Head work? Fa get bout it no one reputable w/ a flow bench. Save yourself the headache and have it built in the states and shipped. However if you know someone at the Base Hobby shop you can get a underground connect there from what I'm told and have all the machining done inhouse for little to nothing....but you got to know the right person and unfortunately I don't know who it is. Ran into someone at the track sat who mentioned it but I forgot his name.

I can agree with ZBLKHELLRZR on this one I would definatly have a short or long block shipped from the states. At least on a long block everything is done for you just plop it in and go. I had such a hard time finishing my car always waiting on parts.

The cost for shipping an engine to the Frankfurt airport was about $550 last year. I was told that a long block was about the same price as a short block. It's not just the weight that you are paying for, its more like the size. Might as well go with a long block now instead of paying an additional $100 later for shipping some heads...
I'm sure that someone here can give you a better (current) estimate...

Anyone ever delt with Nu Tek? They have a 396 for like $9500. It doesn't say what kind of power it makes, but DAMN!!, does it have all the goodies.

They were the darlings of the stroker long blocks for awhile, then seems they dropped off the map, they may be back though.
The new kids on the block with pretty much the same motor/parts but incredible service (for the time being) is http://www.cmotorsports.com/engineproducts.htm
Im sure both companies are cabable of stellar work though.
