Hello,

I´m thinking about changing my stock LT1 TB against a 58 TB. I know I must drill the holes in the intake bigger.

- But what is with gas? Do I need more gas after this change/work?
- And what must I change too?

Or is it like the same. The gas gots higer and higer, and so I ask about the gas.

Hope some knows or have a idea about this.

Danix

Hmmm, brings it more power or not?

I have a TRANS AM 1996 and aftermark RAM AIR from Suncoastcrations.com with RAM AIR Box.

Now I´m interested in a 58 TB. Is this good for some more HP, or brings other Parts more efficient?

And what is about gas? Do I need more, if I take a biger TB?

you may gain 2 hp it is not worth it spend the 300 dollars on rockers 1.6 which are proven 10 hp unless you are pushing over 400 hp the larger tb will do no good

58mm is for big cubes, or heads and cam w/ headers which you don't have none of. You car will be slower actually putting that size TB on. Taking in too much air and not having the means to push it all out. 52TB is best for a non modded car since that's the size of the intake anyways. Save your $$ and do like the others suggested get some 1.6 roller rockers and call it a day.

Hi,

TB in this size is terrible! :( OK. What is about the roller rokers? Change only this? Is it this: http://www.lgmotorsports.com/OCLT1_Impala_Engine.htm

Why incrase this more HP? I don´t understand.

Must I change the cam and other engine stuff too?

Is the change hard? Or easy to do?

Danix , Rocker arms are a snap to put in. Remove the valve cover, remove the rocker, tighten down the new rocker, usw.

Do rockers really make such a big difference?
(there are also different ratio rockers for the sixer, thats why i´m asking)
I always believed duration and overlap makes horsepower and not (so much) lift?

the more lift you have the more A/F can move into the cylinder, plus the stamped rockers have lots of friction the rollers dont have as much friction

if you are set on a larger t/b i have a 52 mm that i will sell for 200 and you will need no modifications to the intake

This is the best info for you to listen to (above). There are a lot of people who purchase 58mm TB thinking big power gains. In all reality they sacrifice because the stock LT1 intake is only 52mm. I wouldn't recommend trying to turn your 52mm intake into a 58mm by yourself because the power gains versus a new intake cost if you mess up is not worth it. If you stick with a 52mm you'll notice a small difference, if you want a bigger difference in power take the money you would use to by the TB and buy some 1.6rr. Good luck

Thank you verry much.

Hmmm, I´m not the expert of engine work. But I think I can change the 52 TB, if I don´t must drill the intake bigger!?

But I think, I can´t change the rockers.

I have one big question: Do I need more gas if I change this two things? Do I need more fuel/gas?

I'll think a 58mm is a little bit overkill for a slightly moddified LT1, i'll think the best you can do is to stick whith the 48mm and put in an airfoil.
