I should have done my searching of comments from all the smart people on the differant sites before hand, but didnt.
I went thru this last spring, and it cost me more than it should for something stupid. When you change cam's make sure to measure the dowel pin lenght. It should be .620. What I found out is they arent always the correct size.
What could this do? Well for starters it pushes the opti wheel out at a odd angle, and if you have ever broke one apart you'll notice the clearence between the timing wheel and the optical sensor is very small. What you end up doing is eating the plastic away and very soon you get no spark.
I'm hard headed, and it took me 3 opti's to figure this out (thank autozones lifetime warranty). I'm still not positive it is correct yet, but what you can look for is a intermentant high pulse resolution code (not to terrible bad) then you get the low pulse resolution failure code (now your car wont start).
