Hallo evrybody!

I´m new to this board and am proud owner of 95 Trans Am V8 LT1.

My problem is, i have broken tranny 4L60E and fixing it in Spain is very expensive.

Now a friend of mine has busted his truck, it is a 4.3 V6 Astrovan which he put neatly against wall. (Winter is cruel).

However his tranny is still operable and now he is parting Van out.

my question: Will this fit into my TransAm?

Please please help me!

Regards,

Mephy :D

I believe there is a difference in lengths between the two also I believe the bolt pattern is different, but not sure.

what year is the van. I am pretty sure the 4.3 has the same bolt pattern as an old small block and I also thought the lt1 did to. If the van has a 700r4 it would probably work but I think you would have to modify things in your computer or get a computer from a 6 speed car.

most of this is guessing because I don't have first hand info. but if you search some of the bigger boards from the states you should be able to find the answere.

It is from a 96 Astrovan and is a 4L60E.

couldn't find anything on the electronics but they should be the same physical diminsions. I would probably count the output shaft splines just to be safe though.

The V6 and the V8 have the same bolt pattern. The van will have a different Servo in it but it will only cause it to shift smoother. Make sure you add a tranny cooler and don't run it too hard on the top end. The 4L60e generates alot of heat when run at high rpm in overdrive. I would check the wiring harness connector on the Astro's tranny just to make sure. It should fit. I think you will need to transfer your tailhousing off of yours because of the torque arm hookup. It is only 4 bolts so it is easy. Good luck.

O.K. here is the deal. I I just checked some web sites and it looks like the v-6 4L60e has a smaller bell housing and will not fit a V-8. Roy was right. Here is the webstie to a company that I bought my 4L60e for my 95 LT1 Camaro from. They should be able to answer any question you have. Sorry about the bad information.

is the bolt pattern diff or the size of the bell housing? I know when I was looking into doing a old s10 blazer I wanted one with a 4.3 because the 700r4's would bolt up to a small block.

The bellhousing is smaller.
