Hey, I found a 88 IROC Z convertible, white, 5.7 TPI, 700R4, posi rear, PW, PL, PS, AC...for DM 14000, that's about $6500-6800. Does that sound reasonable and what are the things to look for when buying a third gen? The car was painted last year, but the owner says it's not show car quality. Whatever that means??

hey thats cool, I too have an 88´IROC Convertible :-)
... I´m not sure if you know but 3rd gen convertibles never came with a 5.7 from factory, so either it has a new engine or its not a 5.7.... check the VIN

You're right, they never did make a 350 Convertible. This whole deal is getting strange. I asked him to send me the RPO and VIN numbers and according to those this car is supposed to be a black 350 IROC Coupe with black interior and rear disc brakes. Well, his car is a white convertible with gray interior and rear drum brakes. WTF???? I just send him an email asking him to clarify the situation. I can't wait to find out what the deal is with this car.

Be careful when everything is wacky like that. Lots of times those cars are previous crash totals and someone rebuilds them. In the US they have to have a salvage title, not sure in Deutchland though.

Wow, that really is a strange story… either that car was completely redone and was cut off to a vert or I smell BS here… only thing I don´t get is why someone with rear disk brakes would change to rear drums…. Anyways, I´d be careful… hope you can clarify the situation though…
