I finally managed to break the whole exhaust system in pieces (wasn´t too difficult, hardly anything but rust) and yesterday i tried to remove the middle pipe (the pipe right behind the catalyst).

Suprise, surprise: I didn`t manage to get the pipe above the rear-axle (not the rear axe itself, more the stabilizer ?).

I broke the fastener near the muffler right of the pipe (as i said: rust) and now i´m able to lift the pipe above the stabi? and if i wouldn´t have used ramps but a real car-jack (like in a garage) i would have been able to get rid of the middle pipe.

But how do i manage to get the new pipe in place without removing the stabi´s ?

Are there any tricks ? Anybody done that ?

Thanx in advance,

Support the chassis and try removing the right spring and shock, but I think you will have to remove the PHR also..

Are you having a toughtime with PHR?

Never did a 3rd Gen but did my 4th gen and it looks pretty much the same underneath to me.

No, i justed hoped it would be a easier task to put the new pipes underneath...

I already broke a ratchet by dismounting the middle pipe from the cat (i´m simply tooo strong <g>). The bolt was close to nothing but rust... And I think I was just lucky that the damn bolt didn´t rip apart.

I JUST WANNA DRIVE MY CAMARO !!! <sniff>

YES, YES, YES !!!

I did it !

It isn´t neccessary to remove any "heavy" stuff, but it´s a bit of a maze... Think about a ruby´s puzzle with big pieces...

You´ve got to remove the heatshield between tank and muffler. And you need lots of clearance, my ramps didn´t work...

While the car sounds greater without exhaust, it´s great to drive the ´maro (my 3 year old beauty calls it that way) again.

Hope the german TÃœV likes the rear pipes.

Thanks for your tips, it´s always interesting to see how hard it is to do some "simple" maintenance or repairs at that car. I´m afraid of the auto-tranny-oilchange.

Tom
