The home rebuild 305 in my 92 RS just passed 4K miles. Not bad for an engine that consists of a used 91 T/A block/crank, new bearing, rings, oil pump. Most expensive thing I put into it was the Edelbrock Performer TBI cam/intake combo. Hell of it is is the car still cost less than the engine 8)
Now it just needs to last until my DEROS in '06.

85z28 - Silke still has two 3rd Camaros ... did you check with her yet? One's a V6 and one has a 305 IIRC...

I don't know how many f-bodies are in the lot right now, but thte 78, 3.1 92, and 86 T/A are mine. One of the advantages to working p/t at the Kapaun AHS.
The beater is my red RS w/ Heriitage stripes and banged up driver's door. Actually, the dark green 83 GTI sitting at Kapaun is my beater...well so is the wife's 735...hell I guess they all are.

I got the 3.1 from the guy who won it. He lost about $400 on it...really needed to get rid of it... Bummer it's a 3.1 though.
Still, need to get of my @$$ and get it done and gone.

Is that the same yellow one that's seen four different owners in the last 3 years? Chrome modular wheels, black three pieces spoiler, green stuffed animal snake wrapped around the rearview, no trunk lock, etc?

It would not have had that many owners if I could have gotten it from the owner left to the states 3 years ago, when I came up to Kapaun and asked for it. :(
Somebody was sitting on the papers because I was told there was to be taken some parts out the yellow for a certain orange second gen.

But I did not want to buy it without the title - so I waited until it got sold
to me WITH the title... 8)

Don't know about any snake, I got a complete set of locks while I was in Florida, ignition, doors, trunk, so the missing trunk lock is not a problem
and I got plenty sets of wheels to choose, plan to build the 396 and swap in this spring, cam, carburetor etc are already under my kitchen bench, headders and many other parts on order or on the way.

So my first fbody baby finally found it's way home, don't worry, will remain one of my Museum collection and if I feel like I will blow your doors off one day

If you're talking about when it was in the non-op, that's because the guy who owned it left it there with some else an an owner-agent. A lot of storage fees were owed on it. An SP who worked at Veh Reg tracked down the owner and got a clear title from him and then sold to an MP. The storage fees against it were never cleared. Shortly after that was cleared up the car sat outside the fence for nearly a year, it was free game you should have picked it up then

I hope this isn't directed at me. That's a strong accusation for someone to be making; I had nothing to do with the title paperwork. Lastly, that "certain orange second gen" didn't need a thing off that POS. You've obviously never seen my car up close.

You better do it while mines sitting in the non-op...without it's 383.

do you feel offended? why?
all I wrote was the view from my side, how I tried for many month to track the owner and to get the car three years ago, and what I was told - and why it propably had so many owners in between.

did not know you had an orange second gen then?
I talk of some orange second gen was up there back then with a cracked windshield, the owner was proudly showing me his car and said to me he wants to take parts from the yellow one to fix his.

was that you? I can not remember the face or the name. if not, don't worry about it. if yes, don't worry either. I got what I wanted now.

and the offer for a race stands no matter who you are or what you drive... just wanna kick ass!
(one day - mine is not yet done either)

I'm not offended more than I am concerned that there's some misinformation that I was involved in some sort of plot to hold up paperwork so I could take parts off the car. I was offered the car for a couple hundred bucks and turned it down. I just didn't have any need for it.
It must have been my orange Z you saw, it has a big@$$ crack in the windshield. But I certainly don't recall ever showing it to anyone and saying I wanted parts off the Berlinetta. Everything on my car is either new or in very good condition. Seriously, if you saw my car, what could I possibly want or need? My interior is new, the yellow one's was trashed. There's no major body damage to mine, so I have no need for sheet metal. And my drivetrain and susp is all aftermarket. I even have brand new door glass for it. The only thing my car does need body wise is a new windshield and I sure wasn't looking to can it off that one when a new one is relatively inexpensive downtown.
Either way, I'm glad you got want you wanted. I believe there was just some serious misrepresentation on what really transpired between owners. How I got added to that is beyond me.

Now I did get a 350 out of a yellow Malibu that was running around K-town a few years ago when I needed another block for something else...maybe someone got the cars confused...
