Hi, Is there anyone on this forum with the Flowmaster American Thunder catback on theit Thirdgen?
I've heard, on an american forum, that it sounds real great.I'm looking to find a cheap way to get one to europe.
If I order i myself at Summits, the 319$ catback will cost me about will cost me about 600 euro after importtaxes, VAT, shipping etc.
Does anyone know the price for this system in Germany (FLO 17233)

If you would order through http://www.KTS.de who is one of the biggest part suppliers in Germany you would still end up paying way more than ordering through summit... KTS want 843€ for the catback.... a lot more than I'd be willing to pay for flows

I heard how it sounds.
My friend has one in his `88 GTA. It is coool. But I have to tell you that my exhaust sounds just like the Flowmaster. I have Edelbrock TES headers, and catback form T/A GTA but without catalyst! The sound after you remove catalyst is beautiful.

That's on of the first thing I'm gonna do next spring, replace the cat and put a cat replacementpipe in instead.
Headers are expensive over here also and hard to put in (so I've heard), but that would be my next step after the cat back.

Go with edelbrock TES headers, coated if possible and you'll be fine

Yeah
those headers generate much heat, I had to do special aluminium shielding or the spark cables would get burnt.
By the way VERY nice convertibles and very RARE. My friend owns a 2,8 V6 Camaro and he wants to sell it and buy a convertible, but they are hard to come by.

Well, my convert is for sale for the right price. It's one of the 1.859 305TBI convertibles made in 1988. It has an automatic and has 70,000 miles on it. I' ve also got the complete servicehistory, original salesbrochure, owner manual and softtop manual and the original (californian) bill of sale.
It's bright blue metallic with black/gray cloth.
The only things not original on the car are the (brandnew) chrome K&N aircleaner, new hypertech fanswitch and new 160 degrees thermostat, cuz it was overheating in heavy city traffic.
The only thing not working properly is the airco. It works, but doesn't become very cold. Needs to be filled up probably.
I only sell it cuz I have the chance to buy a real nice Silvergreen 82 Corvette.
I can email you some pics if you want me to.
My (non negotiable) price is 9950 euro.

Can you not buy the exhaust you want and have it shipped to an APO AE address?? Isnt that like shipping it to a US Address?? I am new to Europe so I am learning these things, but I know of several people here who have already done that and avoided the VAT.
Good luck either way!!

Please correct me, but isn't an exhaust a bit too big for APO AE shipment? Would be nice, though ...

The guys I work with get large musical instruments shipped here to their APO addresses. We are talking boxes 4-5 feet long or more. How big are the boxes they ship in??

Cat back exhaust and long tube headers came to my APO no problem. When you look in a summit mag, if it doesn't say truck freight, it will ship to an APO address. Later

An APO address is a US Military address. Some government employees working for the Department of Defense are also issued APO addresses to my knowledge...but there are other people who likely know a lot more than I do.
Good luck!!

The APO address is a post office box provided for military and DOD civilians. It allows us to have reasonable postage costs to the states and also to us. The box is located in New York. From there the military postal people bring it to Europe.

Perhaps you could find someone who has an APO address and have them order it or at least ship it to them??? Where are you and does anyone live close to you??

Hm That might be an option, but Im quit new here and do not know any members personally yet.
I live in Zoetermeer (a city near The Hague in The Netherlands) I guess all the US military guys are stationed in Germany.

I am in Belgium...Mons specifically, but we could talk about that possibility sometime.... You just may have to let me drive your car sometime....just as a reminder since mine is still in the US.

That can be arranged, but I'm afraid it would be disappointing for you, because my deadslow 305 TBI is almost stock.
When I bought it I had now knowledge of Camaro's at all, otherwise I might have looked on for a TPI although there aren't much to chose from over here and the one I bought was in excellent condition.
I've put a K&N open element aircleaner on it and a hypertech Fanswitch and 160 degrees thermostat because it kept on overheating in heavy city traffic.
Because (especially the converts) are quite rare over here in europe I'm gonna keep it as good as stock.
The only things I'm planning to change is delete the cat because that is not mandatory over here on a '88 car, put on the flowmaster american thunder car backsystem and maybe if I keep the car ( I'd like to have a Corvette) get me some headers. I guess it would have about 210 hp than instead of the stock 175 hp. That's enough for an old man like me to make it a nice cruiser. Although I would like to have a 400+ hp to
