I guess we'll be getting ready to do some basic tearing up on the '79 pretty soon - anything special to watch out for when pulling the motor out?

Well on a car like yours, it will be very easy. Just make sure when the engine comes out of the engine bay you are careful to make sure it does not swing back into the windshield. I have seen this done a few times as the engine comes out at an angle. Also please remove the hood as it makes it ten times easier.

Good luck Garry. I expect some video of you running it when it is done......

Hood's going probably anyway, being replaced by fiber hood or flip front ... so really no reason to keep it on when removing the motor ...

Like George said, the removal is pretty straight forward. Disconnect everything and pull it.

Yeah, ditto on what was said before. Really easy to pull the motor, but you have to take off the hood.

You may want to take the distributer out before you pull the motor because it may get squished against the firewall when the motor is at an angle. Also have some extensions for your ratchet if your pulling the motor without tranny, since you'll have to take out the bolts holding the engine and tranny together from behind/under the transmission. Get ready for a mess unless you plug up all cooling inlets/outlets. It's overall real simple, though. I'm no mechanic and it takes me about 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

Ryan, you could have done a little better than that. You could have at least said, 'yeah, what everyone else said.'
