Been down by Mainz ... looked at yellow Berlinetta today ... needs some work, but at least it's running and seems to have some material to work with ...
Has a 170+HP 350 engine with automatic transmission, but doesn't seem to pull too well - maybe I'm just spoiled by my 193HP V6 w/M5 ...
Exterior is in fair shape, though the paint is old and chipped at a couple places, there's hardly any rust ... the guy just had fixed the underbody of the car, so it's in pretty good shape as far as I can tell.
Got a bit hard time w/ the transmission, getting it into D and so ... may want to put a 400 transmission in ...
Motor definitely needs some work, looks pretty bad on first sight ... oh well, 22 years old ... it's running ...
Brakes pull to the right pretty badly ... if I get the car, that will be one thing to watch out for on the way back ... also, some noice from the back axle we'll have to check out on the lift ...
Interior's a mess - nice leather seats, but a bit torn on the drivers side ... if we decide to fix it up for racin'. they're going anyway ... what surprised me, neither one of the doors sagged too much ...
Oh well .. here's a couple of pix ...

Paint is one thing that's going on - sometime during the winter ... not too happy about the vinyl roof, but ... my friend will more or less have the decision on the technical state of the car ... he'll have to get it running, so ... :) I'm talking to him later on and see if he thinks it's worth going down there Saturday for him to check it out ...

Btw, the motor looks a bit chaotic - is that normal for a 2nd gen?

Garry...I just found a really nice one, if it's as good as it looks, it's a really good price.

Garry,
The engine compartment you're looking at is typical of any American made late-70's car. The A/C is still connected and it appears the majority of the emissions equipment is still installed. But to answer your question, yes they all look that chaotic (however there are exceptions)
If you're having problems putting it in gear, it's probably a bad cable, not the transmission itself and surely not worth the swap to a TH400 if you have a TH350. Also, 400s use an electrical detent operated off the gas pedal versus a kickdown cable. Unless you have access to the throttle position switch and the wiring harness that goes to the transmission, you may find they're hard to find.
