I'm posting this for a friend with a 3.4 who is planning on fitting a cold-air induction kit and a bigger exhaust. He was hoping for a 30bhp gain but I said that was going to be a little optimistic. Anybody know the likely gains. I reckon 15-20 maximum.

I am thinking 5hp here. It would be more if it was pressurized from the chin spoiler.
Sergio what do you think.

If he is going with a complete exhaust replace, and the cold air, maybe, just maybe 15. But I think that Sergio is the man in this subject. I think that K&N was saying that their cold air kit makes like 11-12 but I don't believe 'em.

rule if thumb the closer to the valves the more Hapees you make. My guess would be around 5 also.

cat back exhaust is along way from the valves. LT Headers would make more & Cam would make even more because it opens the valves more/longer and the best is port and polish with bigger valves and a cam.

I agree with the porting/polishing. But you also have to include compression ratio in the mix also. To get the most out of the cam you also need the correct ratio. I told rt that I would not go any higher than 10.0-1. He would also need a wide lobe seperation so that he does not lose any vacuum which leads to other problems. Just my 2 cents.

10.1 is good for his setup. CR is very important if you have all the other stuff and 8.5 CR it will not help very much
