"
From what I learned now:
The difference from the Euro V6 muffler to the US muffler is aprox 7 hp.
With a Flowmaster or similar system the gains are quite substantial.
"
what do you mean by "substantial" ?
7hp ?
what about the PCM version?
I've found the place to get US PCM:

Do the euro and US 3.8s have different speedos? (my 3.4 has a 150mph one...) So if you use a US pcm will you set the speedo of? (like using a V8 speedo on a V6 will show wrong readings...)

What is substantial?
If we forget about the PCM, which should just have a different software to acomodate the more restrictive muffler, the stock US muffler is +7 hp.
The stock US Z 28 muffler is an additional +5 hp, so it ads up to +12 hp.
A B&B Triflow was dynoed in 1996 in reference to the stock US V6 muffler on a 3800 Camaro with + 12 hp, so that would ad up to +19 hp.
As I said, the PCM seems just to be programmed differently, so this could be changed with Hypertech or the new software for laptops that allows to manipulate singele parameters. According to Hypertech´s dyno this should be good for another 10 hp, so that combined you would get anywhere between 210 and 222 hp, depending on the exhaust system. Ad another 5 hp for a CAI and you´ll be at 215 to 227, enough to run about 230 kph depending on the rear end ratio. All the figueres above except for the CAI are according to published dyno tests.

To be honest, i don´t like that horsepower adding, things just don´t work that way, they influence each other.
Some 3.8 dynoed just 200rwhp with having heads and cam done, some 3.8s put out just 170rwhp stock...
(not picking on that engine - some 3.4s had just 135rwhp stock )

I've beat Mustang MACH 1 1970 and C3 1975 with 350ci with my 3.8 on the 1/4 track
but that's true , 200 hp are at the flywheels not at the wheels...
M5 are 175 hp stock, auto are about 170 depending on temperature, humidity ,etc...
what are the exact transmission loss?

When I put my catback, I won hp, okay.
20 hp sounds a lot thought...I feel about the same gain the my whisper lid (5, 10 hp?).
Maybe the big sound added influence me...I don't know
Whish I had a dyno
do you know that 200hp SAE = 203 hp DIN...
in europe we are 193HP DIN RATED
it's 10 hp!!!

I like the 3.8, i know it´s fast and even faster thant some V8s.
I said I´m NOT picking on that engine, i just wanted to say my opinion about horsepower calculations
Don´t know about the transmission loss, I heard already everything from 10 to 30%..

about the pcm, us V6 avec T ratd tired and 115 mph (185 km/h) top speed...
So swap our PCM with a us version isn't a good idea...
I can reach 210 km/h on the 4th speed
Custom programming is the solution

Here is the shocking truth. I've sold my camaro, I've a C5 now ... I've just bought HP TUNER I've compared the V6 European PCM vs the usa pcm : http://corvettecircus.forumsactifs.com/reprogrammation-f22/debridage-firebird-camaro-38-v6-t1612.htm happy to have finally found the truth...

I cannot say "congrats" cause you sold the Camaro, however I can say "congrats" case you sold the V6.

I've not forget the f bodies!!! I'm tuning them too ! Plus It's easier to tune them than vettes, the vette is more optimised from factory (no egr, no speed limiter, etc..).

I have a euro Z28 and with a speaker box in the box and bad shocks i put down a 14.126 in the 1/4. I do have short tube headers, K/N filter only and the Cat back off my 95 Z28 that the wifey t-boned!! The factory Z28 had a single exhaust tip but she still ran.

yeah i know. My speaker box is about 120-150lbs. I am guessing i would be low 13's without all the crap. Not to mention the weight wore my springs out so when i roll over a big big my car bounces!!! Yeah i don't it but i reaaly need to find some good stiff springs and shocks too!! I am leaning toward Koni or bilstein in an adjustable setting.
